The players love and adore Les. We all know that.

Its not a "joke" to fire him. Plenty of great coaches have been fired. We're not erasing Les Miles at LSU just because he will no longer be the coach, and its ridiculous to think LSU owes him some sort of idol worship at the expense of the University. Thats what you'd have if you left him around. Tre White has also been lucky enough to be on the defensive side of the ball.

Perhaps the players could have played better too?

Of course they will defend him. Miles is like a father figure to them.

Nah, I just think they have lost a lot of confidence.
Arkansas and Ole Miss might just be better than LSU right now. Not an excuse. If the team isn't as good as we thought, then that's a reflection on Les.
I don't think they quit. They were down 24-0, and came back and made a game of it early in the 2nd half.

It is true that Miles's players would run through a wall for him, that much of true, so this isn't surprising.

Or did he quit on the players with the shitty playcalling and the inability to adapt to win.
Look, he's a good guy but he's a players coach. Of course the players will have some sort of reaction. He's practically like a father to most of them. He got way too complacent with his style of play. The team was so undisciplined with the amount of flags. They tilted after the Alabama game and it was evident that their gameplay was sluggish and uninspiring... Isn't it the HC job to motivate them to look forward to other games? Light a fire under their arse or something. There is more to football than just the Alabama game.

Les is like a father to them, of course they love him.

Seriously, have any of his ex players defended/supported Les?

Miles is just a real nice guy. Maybe too nice.

The rant has talked about this so much, that in your minds its a "done deal". Les will be here until his contract is up. At that point it will be up to Les whether or not he wants to stay. LSU will want to renew his contract too - Book it! He is one of the most successful coaches that have coached here at LSU. If we lost him anytime soon, LSU would be the laughing stock of the SEC and the NCAA for that matter.

If the players quit on him this year for the arky and ole miss games, who actually wants him to come back next year to "turn everything around"?
Posted on 11/22/15 at 6:46 pm to The Baker
Because unlike the rant, they have the ability to put some of the blame on themselves. I am sure there is an aspect of guilt as well as a feeling of failure, if only indirectly, in play if he is fired. It's only natural.

We have to remember that we really know nothing as a msg board. We really don't.

TailgateTiger, you have stated this before and seem to be a harbor in the storm. you don't seem to be speculation (which is pretty unusual around here).
would you, and can you, give us a hint on why you are so positive?
