SEC offenses are built differently, today.
What about MAC offenses and American conference offenses?

The dude is a nightmare, and the fact that Les hired him should get him fired.
Got to give credit when its due and the idiot Alleva forced Les to make a third tier hire. Alleva would not guarantee anyone an extension of their salary if Les gets canned. What top notch DC is going to come here if he thinks he might be out of a job in 12 months? This is why we lost Chavis. LSU has a guy running the defense that has been a miserable failure everywhere he has been.
Les mentally is lost in space, he needs good assistants. Between Steele and BDP he is sealing his fate.

Maybe that's the pumper in me, but I saw some good things defensively this season.
I did too. The front seven talent is much, much, worse than people care to admit. What I saw was Ogeron coaching the shite out of an inferior d-line & with the exception of Beckwith & Jones, subpar group of LBs play as well as can be expected.
Next year is going to be ugly & I don't think it gets fixed until 2017 - no matter who the d-coordinator is.

defense suffers from the poor execution of the offense and special teams. Our defense plays best with a lead and poorly when from behind. We've seen flashes of how good this defense can be this season so I'm going to cut Steele some slack.
I feel like we've run more and more zone as the season has progressed. Not a fan and prefer to let our athletes battle with theirs

Smaller conferences almost always weigh offense heavier than defense - money ball. You can't win if you don't score, no matter how good your defense is - and defensive athletes are more of a premium because, outside of QBs, they have to be smarter than the offense. There is also way more athletic ability (for size) required on the DL and at CB, than at any other position.

just saying, that with all the problems we have with coaching on the offense side of the ball and with special teams that the DC seems the least of our worries. Let him get a couple years in and a little talent to work with then make a judgement on him. Way to early right now.

I expect Steele to bring back the big LBs you want to see.

Syracuse and EMU are 120 and 79 respectively in total offense. Your explanations aren't jiving.

Meh - we have 2 linebackers I trust to play, and both will be gone next year.
I think we have enough talent on the DL to get by.
I think the secondary isn't as good as we want to think - blasphemy, I know, but it isn't the front seven with all those busted coverages.

The kickoff team has fricked the defense.

What?
Syracuse is 121, but EMU is 47. I'm sure it is an oversight, but WKU is 14th.
Your facts aren't jiving.

he deserves a chance.
No. No he doesn't.
He did not earn this job. At all. He is not qualified to run our defense at a high level. Period.
They have regressed badly in every single way except sacks.

So virtually the same unit that finished first in yards last year returns, and now we don't have enough talent? Come on. Steele isn't getting the job done. When good players play worse, that is scheme.
How can you say virtually the same unit? I can think of 5 players that played significant time last year that are not on 2015 defense. Put me in the camp that gives the guy more time.

More blasphemy: busted coverages became more common when Raymond came in. Remember his first year & the "communication" issues.

Because it is virtually the same unit. Neal and Key have had more production than Rasco and Hunter. If losing Welter and Jalen Collins made that big of a difference, I never would have guessed it. I'll give you Kwon. Deion Jones has done a pretty good facsimile of his production, though.

Take a look at the stats on total offense and get back with me.
I was using ESPN:
FBS Total Offense
Is there some stat court we can go to in order to get a ruling?
(Your link has WKU up to 12, just FTR).
And our total defense is atrocious - I'm not arguing that metric is anything to be proud of.

We aren't getting torn up because our players are worse than their players.
We are getting torn up because our scheme is atrocious, there is poor execution, and halftime adjustments have not existed.
How many backup and 3rd string QBs has LSU played? 4? This defense has much worse stats and fails the eye test even worse. They are undisciplined and disorganized.
Again, our stats are worse than with Mallveto and we haven't played Ole Miss or A&M yet. People went after Mallveto with pitchforks.
The Steele hire was bad from jump street and it will lead to Miles' being canned.

You are using total yardage numbers. I am using per game numbers. EMU has (somehow) already played 11 games. It skews the numbers.
