I like the Mountain Bike Pump Track in the lower left of that picture, but that would be better suited for Perkins Road Park.

Maybe they are planning for gentrification to clean up the area.

City Park in New Orleans is much nicer since they closed the south course and put in boat/pedal car rentals, running trails, soccer fields, etc.

Sounds like a better use of space up there too.

It will have 20 murders in the first year.

I've been needing a new place to commit my murders. It's good to switch it up every now and again.

When young brothas and sistas are getting shot up at this new park, this is on Carolyn. Their blood will be on her hands.

I tip my hat to Mrs. McKnight for finally doing what should have been done 15-20 years ago.

Anytime people bitch about BREC to me I hit them with all the good things they have done for the area. Another step in the right direction.

Place to rent Kayaks and paddle boats and have events...there's one near Dumas and Clark parks that does well.

...and Greenwood, which is entertaining as hell watching the black girls roll their canoes and absolutely freak out when they hit the water.

Almost like putting a golf course in the hood.

I'm thinking that when the Howell Park golf course was built the area around it wasn't considered "hood".

Went to Flancher park to play disc golf a while back. We heard someone with subwoofers in the distance by our car. We finished the round and when we got back to the car, there was a dismantled 9mm that someone was clearly trying to get rid of in the lake by the boat house. I've seen 2 whole families get in a brawl at Greenwood Park.

That said. They're still nice places to go if you get there early and leave by 1pm. After 1pm, I wouldn't risk it.

Howell Park was a great course. Instead of waiting on that slow foursome you had to wait on the crack deal to go down before teeing off.

That statement is true for many places in Baton Rouge. The trash seems to stay indoors until around 2:00 in the afternoon.
Baton Rouge's atmosphere definitely changes from morning people to night people.
