I thought MD was a lot higher on the weird scale than BV.
I've studied Muholland Drive and I can see the coherent story there more easily, I guess. But, on first watch, all of his original work films are weird as hell.

The Tree of Life.
Worst trash I've ever seen.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was pretty fricking weird. Pretty fricking great too.
Michel Gondry definitely makes some weird ones. In weirdness, I'd rate his:
1. The Science of Sleep
2. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
3. Be Kind Rewind
4. Human Nature
I have admittedly not seen most of the others, and The Green Hornet just doesn't deserve recognition here.

Surprised it took four pages to mention Terry Gilliam.
"Brazil" is just flat-out bizarre.
EDIT: Someone did mention 12 Monkeys, so nevermind

Altered States
I had a biology teacher at Nichols that loved this movie and showed it to his comparative physiology class every year.

Tideland. Not sure how it's possible, but it's the weirdest of all the Terry Gilliam movies

I would rate the Lynch - in decreasing order of weirdness:
Eraserhead
Blue Velvet
Lost Highway
Mulholland Drive
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
Dune
Elephant Man
How did you not list Inland Empire in here...

I thought I covered that in the epilogue to that - I haven't seen it.

I don't read no good, I sorry
but yes, Inland Empire is weirder than Blue Velvet.

is eraserhead a good movie? I am curious about this director's films. I havent seen any of his movies, but they all got good reviews. Which you do you suggest I watch in order to see if I like his style of movie?

The average person would say Eraserhead is a HORRIBLE movie just because it is so strange. I like it just because I like weird stuff. His films require some patience and a fairly twisted sense of humor. Try Dune

Start with Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks. They're weird but have a mostly coherent plot.
