How about when a cop shows up at your door you show them the respect they deserve? What a novel concept
How about we hold cops to a higher standard and ask them not to break the law and assault some college kids who were well within their rights not to leave their apartment?

The footage may not exist. That officer may have turned his body cam off before the actual fight.
That would hopefully be problematic for the officer.

But frick these kids for refusing to turn down their music after midnight

I remember reading early on that this was the wrong apartment and that was why the kids were disagreeing with what the cop was trying to do.

That's been the rumor but in the end, it doesn't matter. There's no loud music on in the video and none of the college kids arrested were cited with a noise complaint. A noise complaint also doesn't justify that cop block the door from being shut, then illegally come into a private residence, then assault the occupants those residents.

Use of that excess of a force was not justified regardless if the students were in the right or the wrong.

The cops shouldn't have to come 3 times for a noise complaint. The usual standard in Oxford is someone goes outside and talks to the cops. Cop says "If I have to come out here again then I'm shutting it down and checking ID's and looking for anything illegal. Kids say "Yes sir" and then the music down. Problem solved.
But obviously no reason for the violence on the residence. Completely uncalled for.

There is nothing that backs up the fact that they were there multiple times.
The Tuscaloosa Chief of Police said minutes ago he saw nothing in all of the footage that justified the cops entering the apartment like they did.

Exactly. I SINCERELY doubt the cops visited this place 3 times for a noise complaint. If they did why did they not, I don't know, offer a citation on the second visit?

That has never been proven to be true. That was just a rumor going around the day after and was never verified by the TPD.

Video in OP you can hear the cop say "after the 2nd time" He seemed to want to make it sound like it was the 3rd, but the way it was worded really meant twice.

Nobody on this earth deserves respect. Respect is earned, I don't give a frick who you are.

Even if they did, it still doesn't justify what went down.
If this was some throw-down party that was keeping everyone awake and violating the noise ordinance...even after repeated attempts...then a citation should've been given. However, none of the kids arrested were charged with anything related to the noise. In fact, the video in the OP clearly shows the cops standing around trying to figure out what to charge them with.
What sort of undercuts the "visited the apartment multiple times" theory is the video of the cop arriving and asking where the apartment is.

Twitter via @Fox6Kelvin.
The chief has stated the cops were in the wrong on entering the residence and the student did not have to come out of his apartment.

Not everyone thinks cops deserve respect.

They did. Twice before arriving for the third time at 3:30 to ask again. At which point Mr. Cool decides he is not going to step out of the apartment to even talk with the officer.
Again. frick them. They should have gotten their arse beat at age ten and not 20. Maybe this wouldn't be a problem today for the cops to deal with.

I went. But likely not for as long as you did.

Seems like they just needed a ticket for a noise violation. Would have saved them a lot of trouble.
That's how the cops should have handled. Wrote them a new violation for every five minutes they refused to turn it down. But they didn't and at least one is probably going to be fired.
