Humana with their Healthy Living plans has where you can get a discount card to get 10% off groceries when you pick up "healthy foods".

Now THAT is the thing in this thread that should be pissing people off.

Honestly, this is the only place where I find people who don't understand why people avoid Wal-Mart like the plague.

I think it depends on the location of said Walmart and the other options available.

The ones here in Louisville are awful. With Kroger, Costco, Target (with the grocery section), Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Rainbow Blossom (local Whole Foods-esque chain that's cheaper), and Meijers all here there's really no reason for me to go to a Walmart. Some of the ones here have gotten so bad that because of where they've built the stores, they can't stay open 24 hours because of the theft rates.

If nothing else, the OP probably has been cured of the urge to start random threads so he can thank Wal-Mart for that.

There are 3 grocery stores within a mile of my house, whereas WalMart is 10-15 minutes away.. so I don't go for groceries. Plus, I am very particular about getting produce at Southside, seafood and meat at Fresh Market, and packaged items wherever (don't care).

But I used to go randomly sometimes for cat food or some obscure item I can't get elsewhere before I started ordering everything on Amazon.

The new WalMart on Burbank is just fine. The one on College Drive is a nightmare. Like being at the DMV x 100000. But yeah, a decent/clean WalMart isn't bad.. just doesn't fit into the convenience factor for me personally.

There is a such thing as fresh basil in the produce aisle. They were out of it.

I don't know your other options for meat in Baton Rouge but Fresh Market is pretty subpar for the price they charge. I can get prime grade at Maxwell's right next door for a couple $ a pound cheaper than FM charges for choice

Rouse's also has better beef

I always forget Maxwells exists. They have good meats/seafood too. I also like LeBlanc's for shrimp.

I'm not driving to Denham specially for beef, but I did stop in the other day and got a dry aged ribeye that was great.

I really like Fresh Market as a whole too though.

I was in the produce section last year and I asked if they had pears because I couldn't find them. Well the guy I asked had never heard of a pear and he walked over to two co-workers and neither of them had ever heard of pears either!

I went last week for "a few groceries" which always turns out to be 100.00. Three people in front of me had their welfare cards for their groceries. Of course the one in front of me had a fancy weave do, fake nails, and nice purse. Haaaaaaaaaate em.

LL I go to FM a lot because it's really close to my house and I pass it every day from the gym. I just don't buy meat there. I never have to buy fish cause I catch enough and shrimp I'll go down to the coast and buy enough for the year then freeze

I'm going to stuff some fresh flounders my buddy brought me tonight
