Anybody hating on Breaux can frick off. He's been our best CB by far.

the frick he wasn't.
This team has had leadership problems starting with Payton
They have been severely hampered with injuries on defense, none of which is to blame rob ryan
Forced to play many defensive rookies and inexperienced vets to make up for lack of talent
Have made some big personnel decisions that are biting us in the arse big time, none of which rob ryan is to be blamed for.
Several poor drafts have caught up with us, none of which they allow rob ryan to make executive personnel decisions
No, he was absolutely a top 5 problem.
Your first reason, leadership problems, includes Ryan. And while Payton shouldn't have hired him (I would imagine their personalities never gelled and while Payton is a workaholic, I bet Ryan was not) he was still the leader of the defense.
Injuries happen to every single team. It's not an excuse anymore unless your entire starting unit goes down. And still, when backups enter the game they should be ready to play. Sure there is a drop off in talent, but these players look like they haven't been coached. They make so many mental mistakes and seem to always be out of position...where Ryan has them lining up.
Here's my thing: the defense never looks ready and they don't play hard. They are a reflection of their coach and Ryan clearly can't scout an offense and put together a game plan.
Look at Atlanta. They really don't have much talent on the D side of the ball but they play better because of coaching. Ryan is not effective, and I will absolutely say that really all the coordinators need to go or "find new jobs."

Pump the brakes a little here. Breaux has been very good and has flashed shutdown ability. The tools are there and I'm excited for his future with the team. No one on the D side of the ball has been outstanding this year.
But with Kikaha, Anthony, and Breaux; next year looks bright.

our defense played harder than our offense more games than not. word must of been out about ryan, he was a dead duck and the entire team knew it.

I wonder of Payton fired him in the lockeroom at halftime in front of the team?
The team on both sides of the ball that came out that tunnel after the half didn't even look like the Saints. When's the last time Brees and Payton got in each others face?

I feel like the fact that the defense had their worst game RIGHT BEFORE the bye shows that Ryan can't do what we need him to do, even if it's to save his job.

Best WR in the NFL? Who is that?
Are you implying that ODB is so far away from being the best WR in the NFL that you legitimately don't know whom I'm referring to?

No coordinator could have done much of shite with this year's talent and injuries we've had to deal with.
That's bull. There are quite a few coordinators who could play to the strengths of their players and have them in position to succeed. Quite a few DC's who could inspire their players to play hard for them. Ryan cannot do that. He has a very long track record of failing as a DC.
quote:
Browner probably wasn't Rob Ryan's idea. Whomever made the executive decision on that dude should be fired and held accountable.
The majority of this board was excited to get Browner. It's the DC's job to make him work. Browner has been awful, not excusing his play at all, but the Saints had no way of knowing it would be an embarrassment like this.
quote:
Byrd surely wasn't Rob Ryans call neither.
Adding a player like Byrd shouldn't cause for the DC's signature. The DC should be jumping for joy at the incredible talent we signed. Shame it didn't work out that way. And shame Ryan likes to line his safeties up 30 yards down the field.

Certain players play hard on the defense. Like Dunbar was making the most of his situation. Other than that the D plays with no intensity and no passion.
Sloppy fundamentals and poor game prep has led to us being a complete joke. When you make Mariotta and Cousins look like Marino and Elway, it's time for major changes. I imagine this is one of many.

Or that behind the scenes some serious shite has gone down this last week before the game

How many DC's has Sean Payton gone thru now?

You are right, someone who knows a frick load more than you about this team and has proved it over and over.
But please, go ahead and humor me. Tell me all the "outstanding" players on our D...

Know who teaches fundamentals? Position coaches.
Know who plays a huge role in game prep? Assistant defensive coaches ala Allen.

Yeah, I'm sure he did

They didn't look like the Saints at the start of the game. Redskins made a few tweeks to their gameplan and that was it.
quote:

They hardly got in each other's faces, but I will agree it was the first time we saw them have a disagreement. Though I doubt it was the first time. I think Payton just wanted to end the game and let the Redskins eat more clock. Or maybe he wanted to give the ball back so he could keel letting Ryan sink himself.

He should write a book and air dirty laundry.

Too many. It's truly puzzling how Payton can't get this part of the team right. I'm not sure where we go for a new one if Allen doesn't work out. Or even if Allen is the long term solution.

Hey, I'm all for a complete overhaul of our positional coaches. Linebacker and D Line for sure. But Ryan oversees it and it's still his responsibility to manage his coaches.
Still doesn't change that Ryan needed to go immediately and I can only hope this will continue into the offseason.
