All Star Classic 6'6" Med Heavy or Heavy is all you need.

And braid I guess but are specs so line shy that a fluorocarbon leader always necessary? I suck at tying nail knots so I'd rather go straight braid unless it affects my fishing.

Agreed. I like a medium for reds and a medium or medium light for specks.

Personally, I like shimano teramar rods. I would buy one of those (7'-0" med action) with a shimano sahara 3000 reel. That will be good for everything you catch inshore.

I tie artificials straight to braid most of the time.

But learn to tie knots. There are a lot of good diagrams online to help you.

The new all stars suck IMO. Look at Falcon, St. Croix, Penn, Shimano. Also, I'd suggest a medium action rod for specks and reds.

Use a small swivel if you're more comfortable with it. I also tie braid directly to swim baits and jigs when fishing specks/reds. Only time I really use a leader is on Carolina rig/cork/topwater

TFO makes a good one. My buddy swears by the TTF stickman and it seems to work out. I've seen it throw a 1/8th oz spoon 60+ ft and still be able to put the heat on 20lb redfish with a Morrum 3600.

For baitcasters I have Shimano Chronarchs on Abu Garcia Vendettas. I only use monofilament on my baitcasters.

For salt water I have an All Star with a Shimano Sahara 2500 (I think it's the 2500). I have braid on my spinning reels.
