2. LSU (7-1)

The win at Mississippi State is probably better than just about anything anyone else who deserves this spot has done. The win over Florida is the key, and losing to Alabama at Alabama – especially a rested and focused Alabama – isn’t anything to get into a twist over. However, now the tests come against Arkansas and at Ole Miss to stay this high.

The important part here is that some in the media still view LSU as a top team, and one that simply had an off night against what may be the best team in the country.

As mentioned, we're 2-1 against current AP top 25 opponents, which few other teams in the top 10 can match - we have one of the best quality wins and the "best" loss as well.

If the committee takes on this perspective, LSU may be ranked no lower than 7th come Tuesday. And if that's the case, we would certainly still be in contention.

That is not what the issue is here. A loss is a loss, but when you continue to make the same mistakes over and over again with the same game plan to the same opponent it gets people extremely frustrated. It would be one thing if Bama was just more talented that LSU, that would be easy to accept. But most people on this board feel like LSU has as much talent as Bama does and when good teams but with inferior talent as Bama can beat Bama 2 yrs in a row "Ole Piss" it gets you upset and wondering why. If you have the same talent but get man handled year in year out, then either you don't have the same talent or your not getting coached up properly and game planned appropriately.

To be fair Bama is at a disadvantage with that loss to Bama in September.

6-8 is an appropriate ranking IMO.
