Have you heard the latest? According to a Forsyth News report published on Nov. 4, an annual event is hours away that is creating quite the "stir." While some may find it a tad offensive, National Men Make Dinner Day is almost here. Observed each year on the first Thursday in November, this year's event takes place on Nov. 5, 2015.
Back in the day, women typically took care of the home and the kids while the men worked outside the home. But move over, June Cleaver, Lucy Ricardo, Sara Lee and Betty Crocker - things have changed. A woman's place is no longer in the kitchen! In today's society, most of us work either inside or outside of the home - or both. Most of us are overworked, underpaid and just plain stressed out. It's important everyone pulls their weight - including meal and clean-up time.
Just in case that man in your life isn't the Galloping Gourmet and needs a little help, National Men Make Dinner Day encourages those special fellas to get out the ole' recipe book and give cooking a try. And they don't need to be a trained chef to participate, either. (It's important to note, many men actually like to cook. According to Men's Health, men cook at home about eight meals a week - and like it!)

I am a better cook. Why wouldn't I make dinner?
Come to think of it, is men cooking a South Louisiana thing?
Not completely but it seems to be common here. Baking was always more of a woman's realm but when it came to cooking it was men that manned the black iron and the grill.

No doubt, a woman wrote that wall of text.

Fine, I'll be glad to cook tonite. In fact, I'll grill up some steaks and we can combine this "national day" with the one that she conveniently missed back on March 14.

I'm the better cook as well. Problem is I work later than her. I'll gladly eat a lower quality meal so I can eat as soon as I get home. I'll participate this weekend.

Most women I know can't cook for shite. Makes you wonder if it is even worth getting married anymore. Women want to go out and work, be equal, and all , and now don't want to cook or clean.
Encouraging them to make a whopping 40 g a year , then come home and now they can't cook and clean because they work outside the home. These young girls these days won't be worth marrying

I don't know many women that actually cool anymore. Most of my married friends do all the cooking. Not their wives

I'm just trying to figure out what kind of fricked up relationship someone has that it's so bad they can't say "Hey babe, I don't feel like cooking tonight. Do you want to just throw something on the grill or eat out?".

Outside of grilling it's pretty much a South La. thing. My daughter is out of state for college so everytime I visit I bring the pots and cook gumbo, etouffee, pastalya, etc for her. All her friends found it strange that I do most of the cooking. Part of our culture I guess.
