We hear UM football is close to finalizing a deal to play at Appalachian State (Boone, N.C.) next season, with the teams playing a game at Sun Life in a future year. Appalachian State, a member of the Sun Belt Conference, is 7-1, with its only loss to Clemson. The Canes needed to fill an opening, and Appalachian State was one school that could accommodate UM on short notice.
UM’s other 2016 non-conference games: Florida A&M, FAU and at Notre Dame.

Better than playing Incarnate Word at home

They are D1 now. I don't see the issue

You wouldn't have a problem with LSU playing at a Sun Belt school?
Posted on 11/4/15 at 4:34 pm to Dr RC
It certainly wouldn't be the 1st time a Sun Belt team hosted a P5 team.

Miami isn't on the same level
Plus it seems like it was a last resort type option

Yep. I know that ULL has hosted OK State & Kansas State within the last 5-7 years.

Ulm has hosted Baylor and Minnesota

If an SEC plays on the road against a group of five team, then I judge them.
Just like I judge Missouri, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, etc.
Vanderbilt gets a pass. South Carolina played at UCF two years ago, but UCF made a BCS bowl at least.
I know Miami isn't in the SEC, but this is equally as embarrassing.

They're trying to bolster their resume for the CFB Playoff Committee.
No one gives a shite if you beat App St at home, but major props if you can go on the road and win in Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium out in Boone, NC.

Well...its HOT HOT HOT in Boone as well so I'm sure that was part of Miami's appeal.

who gives a frick?
if anything, respect to them for "anytime, anywhere".
P5 schools OOC barely even travel to one another outside of rivalry games (hurr durr neurtralsl site ONLY!!!!@21), so I dont see the point in bitching about this. It's still college football and a great thing for App.

No problem here - props to UM for making it happen.
Sure is better than beating up on FAU at home.

Miami had pretty good luck in North Carolina this weekend. Maybe that's why they're going back.
