Lion kills hunters on illegal hunt

My views on big game hunting have changed slightly in the past few weeks. I've boycotted Jimmie Johns and and anything trump related becaue the founder of Jimmie Johns big game hunts and Trump's kids big game hunts.
Well I just got back from vacation from Panama City, Panama. Our tour guide was this Steve Irwin looking dude from Zimbabwe. I asked him about the Cecil the Lion incident and why he was giving tours in Panama City. He said that he was a tour guide in Zimbabwe but left because there is no tourism there to support conservation of wildlife. He really wants to go home but there isnt much tourism. He's in Panama City because there is a lot of tourism there. He was a tour guide in Colorado for a few years before he moved to Panama. He said that pretty much the only money coming in for preservation is from big game hunting. He asked me have I or do I know anyone that has gone on an African Safari. I told him no. He said its a lot easier in the United States to preserve wildlife because tax dollars go to parks and refuges. No tax dollars go to parks in africa. He also said that Cecil the Lion was a national treasure and that the guide was more to blame than the dentist. He said the dentist was still an a-hole.
I still hate big game hunting but I understand the need a little better.

The big game hunting business has actually increased populations of many of these animals

I believe that the dentist and guide should be charged and processed to the letter of the law in this instance. If they did as the story claims, then they should be charged in a way that deters poaching. There is nothing wrong with big game hunting as it is vital not only to wildlife conservation in these countries, but also their economy as a whole. My issue is the manufactured outrage over the importance of this specific lion. I am sure it had a name and I am sure that it was being studied, but a national treasure? I call complete BS.

It's actually kinda working in Panama City. Trump has the biggest hotel in Panama but people arent going. It's not because of big game hunting but because of his remarks towards illegals/mexicans. Our tour guide told us they are thinking about changing the name of the hotel.
