What is the name of the marketing group that designed toonces? I think the logo was a massive success from LSU's standpoint. Merchandise sales skyrocketed with the furry little guy as our trademark.
Only ones who don't think he's cute are all you decrepit grumpster internet nerds, who have nothing else to criticize besides a successful advertising campaign
All Hail Toonces

Does anyone remember the blow up looking mike they tried in the late 90's? The human mascot not the live tiger obviously. Damn thing looked like a bobble head. It was atrocious. That was my first or second year at LSU.

I've never understood the hate for Toonces.
It's not a great logo, but it's not horrible.
Some folks have gone WAY overboard with the anti-Toonces sentiment.

Disagree. I remember a lot of people despising it and deriding the school for paying an outside firm to come up with such a lame logo.

To me Toonces is the full logo with the arms. The one that is just the cartoonish head isnt toonces.

That probably had nothing to do with it being unveiled precisely when LSU started their most successful run in history.
Nah, couldn't be that.

That was these guys. Check out their other designs. Their idea of innovative is "mascot jumping over name of team."

I waited until they took Toonces off of the class ring to purchase it. They finally switched to the eye but the helmet logo would have been even better.

The tiger on my class of 2000 ring looks more like a wildcat. I would've loved to have the Eye design.

I graduated in 09 and got my ring this past Christmas. I called them twice to make sure they were using the 2015 design with the 2009 date.

Worse than Toonces. Eyes too close together. Looks like a camellia.

The article is correct in one regard, for some reason "cartoony" was a big fad in the late 90's and early 2000's
I think Florida started it with this in 95, which also happended to correspond with their reign at the top of college football
That same graphic design company must have convinced other SEC schools that using this type of logo was the way to go. LSU, Bama, AU, and even Tenn had a stupid cartoon logo:
Really, LSU was the school that stuck with their goofy cartoon logo the longest (besides UF oc course). Good job by the graphic design company making all of these schools think they needed to spend thousands to fix something that wasn't broken
Think how stupid it is for colleges to pay tons of money to a graphic design company when they have student artist, ON THEIR CAMPUS, who are just as talented, if not more. Colleges are great a pissing money away. Remember that next time someone belly-aches about poor higher education having budget cuts.

Nice. I also wish I would've gotten the traditional ring instead of the legacy ring. But I was a young rebel back then.

I kinda like Toonces and don't get what all the fuss is about. That old tiger face is just a mess and far too busy.
Posted on 10/30/15 at 2:55 pm to boxcarbarney
I went with the Legacy. I'm still happy with it. I get a lot of compliments on it. I like to show it off on weekends like next when someone claims that I joined the bandwagon. I run may hand through my beard and politely tell them to frick off.

I pray Toonces burns in Hell.
