Am I mistaken, or do I remember reading and hearing about him calling a game with Jim Hawthorne this season during Ga Southern's bi-week? That would be the Alabama game! I did not listen to this...

Disappointing news.

The smart money was on Jack Hunt to replace Hawthorne.

So Blair is starting with baseball this year, and is coming to BR as soon as Georgia Southern's football season is done. Looks like he's not doing basketball PBP for either school this year, but GSU already has their replacement in place, and Hawthorne is doing it for LSU, so that shouldn't be a big deal.

well over due. Hawthorne can't competently call a play in any sport

His first time, what a damn shame...this gig isn't tasked with fielding a competitive team, it's play by play calling...very sad some lifelong local couldn't land it

Since I've been away and can't get the radio broadcast any more, it's been less important to me who the "voice of the Tigers" was. I was of the generation that had both John Ferguson and Jim Hawthorne. Ferguson was amazing, Hawthorne was funny but not really the best ("Jack Hunt!"). The next generation will have this guy, but they won't identify him with the programs like we did back when listening to the game on the radio was a normal experience. I remember sitting in my car in the driveway to listen to LSU baseball because I got a better signal there than in the house. Now, there really aren't many situations where radio is the best option, so I don't think it will matter as much who the "voice of the Tigers" is.

Say whatever you want about Jim but he was at least a Louisiana native and lifelong LSU fan. This new guy hasn't even attended a game yet. Any talk of LSU history during broadcasts will be shite as soon as he takes the seat. I cannot believe they could find one person in the entire state with a broadcasting background.

Dude's voice sucks.

Plus, why couldn't we hire an actual LSU grad or at least an LSU fan?
