I hate this line of thought. Everything now-a-days is needing an apology. How about you just don't read it if you don't like it?

No, this is what satire is.

However, it is risky considering how stupid some people are.

I love it that the people who are always griping about SJW's and manufactured outrage are the same ones participating in this forced apology machine when something isn't to their liking. Irony at its finest.

Also, I've never understood our society's obsession with apologies. Will a public person or entity's apology somehow make you feel better?

I think you should apologize for calling for the Onion to apologize.

not sure...it was much more funny in the 90's when it was still new to me...don't think I have ever been to their website.

If it makes you feel better, nobody from the onion has been to your website either.

I mean I doubt they have a NYT article about them.

i see what they're trying to do... BUT Steve Bartman is a real person trying to live a life after what happened 12 years ago. We all get the satire, but if the wrong person doesn't...

In 1729, Jonathan Swift wrote a piece perfect for The Onion. It is called "A Modest Proposal." If you haven't read it, you need to do so now.

Wikipedia summary of A Modest Proposal

To date, I have never heard that Swift was called to or did offer any apology to the poor children of Ireland.

I don't expect the Onion to apologize for trying to make a point using satire or for just trying to be funny for funny's sake. I don't expect those LSU fans to apologize for grilling gator with the head still attached to the body. LSU Fans Called Out by Uninformed Idiots for Cooking Gator
If your feelings are hurt or you're offended by another person's actions, ask yourself first, "Am I too sensitive? Too politically correct? Trying to stifle creativity and fun?"

P.S. I don't care what the answer is.

Somehow a lot of people have come to the conclusion that they have a right to not be offended. I get offended all the time. I get over it after a bit.

The Onion has gone downhill in recent years but occasionally they have an all-timer. The Abortionplex is one for the ages. This Bartman article is pretty shitty satire though.

It shouldn't be The Onions responsibility to cater to the lowest common denominator who can't understand it's not a real story.

Everyone has their own favorite "the worst thing about America these days is". In my book, America's most damning weakness is the willingness to dumb things down in hopes of maximizing audience. This tendency hurts America and is conducive to tards inheriting the Earth.

Wait, there was an "onion" before the internet?

It was an underground humor publication at the University of Wisconsin. The Internet gave them a worldwide audience.

They were at their best in the late 1990s and early '00s, when they published a new issue every Wednesday. They started mailing it in around 2004 or so.

that is a great link -

I love the "Chris Pratt won't star in a movie unless he is paid money" reaction - "Everyone has their price."

My favorite is either the Abortionplex or Obama: "Help us destroy Jesus and start a New Age of liberal darkness".

People are idiots.
