Are you concerned about the fact that the other teams OC seems to be adjusting better at halftime than Steele's defensive adjustments.

Or, is it the depth, which we are lacking on the Dline?

I'm a bit concerned.

Am I too concerned?

Help a concerned Tiger fan out.

Should I be concerned about the defense or just concerned that you're concerned?

I'm no expert but, it looked to me that LSU ran base defense in the second half to avoid a total beat down of USCe. There were some coverage mistakes that resulted in giving up big plays. They learn from these mistakes.

I'm okay with Steele so far.

Special Teams are my concern.

Running a soft zone while you're up by three scores and running the ball the way LSU did isn't something to be concerned about, it's smart

we just needed better execution on the backend of some of those plays, plus the USC QB did make a handful of excellent throws

This is my biggest concern with this team. The way teams have come out and put up points and seemed to throw the ball with relative ease has been the case in every game this year. It did seem like with Chavis, we could usually make the right adjustments at halftime and with Steele, he just doesn't seem to be making the adjustments needed

Not sure if it's Steele, Raymond or both. All I know is that we are soft and the Safeties are suspect.

Special Teams is nothing special at all.

A small twinge of concern has crept into me. Or more that I just don't have that confidence, almost feeling of relief when the D takes the field, knowing a stop is imminent. I will say that USC should get credit for calling what seemed to be the perfect plays against a few of our defensive calls, and executed well.

I will also say that we can beat almost every team on the schedule if we hold them to 20 points, because the offense is looking strong.

Why would he make an adjustment when his defense had given up only 3 points?

Probably combination of depth, coaching and scheme.

What you guys fail to realize saying defense played fine is SC is a horrible offense. Horrible. MSU was probably the best we've played this year and they're not great either. Little ole WKU might wake this defense up because supposedly their offense is really good. I think that will be a good test for our defense before we hit the gauntlet on really good offenses like TAMU.

There is a significant drop off from the 1st and 2nd group of DL. That's not necessarily Steele's fault. He has to play with the cards that are dealt. There does however seem to be several instances of confusion between the safeties and D. Thomas. We don't know who is a fault there, but there have been more than a few times where #13 and #33 seem to discussing what went wrong after a big play.

The secondary is solid for the most part, but for as good as he can be on blitzes and against the run, Thomas looks as if he has lost a step in pass coverage. Not all the time, of course, but it seems like this year when there has been big gains in the passing game, Thomas has been the victim.

So opposing teams go from being completely shut down in the first half, make adjustments at half and score some points in the second half...? Because that's what happening... And is it just me, or do we not sub out any defensive players at all in the first half?

I'm still optimistic we get by Fla but there's is a tad bit of concern especially if we aren't to dominate TOP. Seems other teams continue to find open receivers on 3rdand even 4th and long with only a 4 man rush.
Prescott and the kid from Syracuse really got going on us. How can Spurrier continue to get their best and all SEC WR matched up on 13 29 and even 52 once?

The defense's biggest issue is not coaching or scheme, it's depth (particularly on the line). That means the second half will always be an issue, because players wear out.

What year was it, 2013, where we had a lot of recruits but nobody has panned out? Godchaux wasn't that highly recruited, but nobody from the prior class had done anything, so he stepped right in. We're lucky he did.

Look at the makeup of the current team, and you see it- a lot of freshmen and sophomores, both on offense and defense. most of the juniors are making no impact; offhand I can only think of 3 or 4 guys from that class:

Dural, WR, good player.
Beckwith, very good linebacker, took 2 years to get on the field.
Jennings, QB, nothing special, but at least he's seen the field and made some plays when we needed him
Diarse, WR, redshirted a year, hasn't made more than a handful of plays, did make one to help us beat Wisconsin.

Honestly, outside of those 4, I don't know anyone else from that class. Others may help me out with this list... but that's the major reason we don't finish games stronger, we're missing a class.

We play more backups in the second half. Our backup linebackers couldnt cover a paraplegic. In close games beckwith and debo will play the majority of the time. The defense is fine. If one of our 12 kickers on scholarship was allowed to kick the ball in the endzone we'd look even better. I like our chances if a team has to drive 75 yards but bradley dale. We gave up 378 yards to moo st in game 1. Havent allowed 300 in a game since.

Im concerned about you though.

I'm concerned that our secondary looks lost at times and our dline isn't getting much pressure
