it's not a level playing field. Black and low-income students borrow more and more often than their white peers: 80 percent of black college students take on debt as compared to 63 percent of whites. They drop out at higher rates than their white peers and are more likely to cite finances as the reason for leaving school. White students also obtain Bachelor's degrees at twice the rate of blacks and three times the rate of Latinos.

60 percent of white students graduate from college within six years, while only 40 percent of black students obtain a degree within this same time period.

It's a complex cycle. Educational disparities both result from, and lead to, wealth disparities. Simply put, you need to succeed in order to succeed.

Obviously is white people's fault. Feel guilty for yourselves for getting scholarships and graduating 20% more of your race within 6 years. It's been 54 years since JFK signed Executive Order 10925 we need another 54 years to correct this injustice.

Does anyone honestly expect the percentages of all these statistics (loans, graduation rates, etc.) to be equal? I mean, FFS.

Nobody is saying that it's your fault. What we are saying is that you're responsible for it because you caused it to happen.

I don't agree with affirmative action and agree with much of your post, but we have to admit that 54 years really isn't a long time. Blacks weren't allowed access to any kind of good education in the South until the 70s. When they integrated, Southern whites said "frick this" and put their kids in private schools rather than have them in with little dumb black kids. This has caused a huge dearth in the levels of education, and the South is reaping the benefits with high arse murder and crime rates, and tons of poor people.

There are a lot of damned excuses that don't fly with me though.

Some lady tried to make my Wife, who is a Bleeding heart lib, try and feel sorry for her, and make my wife feel guilty for working hard, being an Honor student and then Straight A's all the way through her Masters from St.Louis U.

Finally my wife had enough and told the lady if she had worked hard, like she did, she might not be in the place or situation she was.

A tear came from my eye, my wife for that moment stopped being a bleeding heart liberal. Oh, it was just that moment, but it was great.

I've had similar scenarios with my lib wife too. It is always pretty satisfying when it happens

Can we get a percentage on the amount of tuition and fees that are paid out of pocket by each race vs how much is government assistance/handouts?

Wait, you think those problems are exclusive to the South?
