Installing new gas light

Our front door does not currently have a gas light (It does have an electric light fixture to the left of the door). I've always loved the idea of a outdoor gas porch light.
Anyone have experience having one installed post-construction? Price? Recommend someone in NOLA? We would have to run a gas line to the spot. It's a two story house. We have a gas fireplace in back of house, gas stove in kitchen which is in middle, gas furnace which is also in the middle, and gas water heater which is in upstairs attic access.

I've been out of the business for close to 10 years but my Family had been in the Propane Business since the 50's.
It takes the smallest gas line, usually 1/4" to run a burner that small. You can tap into the closest gas line under your house.
I live in NE AL so I know nothing of businesses in your neck of the woods.
A Propane Co. could do it or wherever you purchase the light may recommend someone.
It's not that difficult.
If it's on a Post, the line runs underground, then up the center of the Post and connects to the burner in the light. The connection may be at the bottom of the Post.
Light the Pilot, tun the Light On.
Good luck.

Slimflame you could add this to an electric Belvo light...

So this is just a module you add to an existing (or new) electrical lamp?

I enjoy talking with the craftsmen making the lamps at the FQ location...

We actually have a pretty nice electric fixture on the front of the house now. I'm going to look at it and see if doing this module makes sense with it.

Depends on how far from the nearest gas line and how easy it is to get to theough an attic or exterior wall. Normal gas lamp is 2000 BTU. A water heater is 60,000-100,000 btu.
I you new to higher a plumber you are likely looking at least a few hundred dollars. Would need a gas permit, days labor for a pair of men, plus materials.

For the cost, it is worth giving this a try to see if it performs satisfactory...
