RGIII and Colin Kapernick why did these two hot QBs fall off so quickly

2 years ago these two QBs were the hottest QBs in the NFL and you couldn't watch a commercial break without seeing these two doing endorsements.
Two years later both are hot garbage and irrelevant.
Why did these two QBs become shite so quickly. Is it because NFL defenses were quick to adapt to their zone read gimmicks and expose their passing ability?

Because they were overrated to begin with.

1) they both had offenses catered to their strengths and weaknesses
2) defenses figured out how to stop it a little bit and injuries and or a big contract made it hard to ask the QB to run around like a dual the at anymore and they couldn't adjust

Kap lost his coach. RG3 was never going to be good.

The dropoff was quicker for RG3.

ill never forget an argument i got into with football nostradamus. hes a good dude, but he and I got pretty heated and he was saying shite like "they're redefining the read option and executing in ways like we've never seen" and i was trying to argue that it would be completely figured out by DCs within 2-3 years
im still waiting for him to eat crow

Because they were not NFL quality starting QB's to begin with???
stop listening to everything that comes out of some loser on ESPN's mouth is the thing to learn here. Trust your own eyes, if you know what the hell makes a player in the first place

That's what happens when you can't read a defense.

QB play in the NFL have always been about the ability to deliver the ball from the pocket with good anticipation. It requires the ability to read the defenses on the fly and make good decisions.
Athletic ability is way down the list of importance.
