If you quickly walk 6-8 miles a day would you consider that a worthy work-out?

My current job requires at least that... along with other physical stuff including lifting, etc. Yet I still come out of it feeling both exhausted and like I haven't gotten anywhere physically....
When it comes to exercise and working out, I just always feel more tired the more I do instead of eventually having extra energy even if I physically look better.
I don't mind hard work, I would just like to see it pay off in some extra ability and energy.. may be my diet... not really sure...

If you're tired all the time it may be your diet. If you don't enjoy your job also that may have a detrimental effect on your level of energy.

Are you doing it all at once, or spread out over the day? If the former, it's a decent workout, especially if it also involves some lifting, as you say.. If the latter, you're clearly way better off than sitting in a chair all day, but it's still not much intensity. Do you break a sweat, or get your heart rate up?
I'd call what you're doing a decent base to start with, but you need to find the time and motivation to do something to raise the intensity level. The good news is it shouldn't take too much with what you're already doing at work. If you can get in a hard 30-45 minute session two or three times a week on top of that, you can be in really great shape.

Time to get a CPAP old man.
I personally don't have one and never will but the folks that use them say they help.

You'll burn decent calories with that level of activity, but it won't matter if your eating habits offset the calories burned. As you use more energy, your eating more to compensate for that, likely without even realizing it. Start paying attention to what you eat. If you clean up what you eat, you can get the nutrition you need for energy while taking in less calories. Doesn't have to be real scientific, just slowly cut back on the things you probably already know aren't good for you. It really is as simple as calories in vs. calories out for weight loss. And yes, sleep is very important for energy levels and strength.

Curious, but what do you do that requires walking 6-8 miles a day?
I used to have a job in Katy that required being on the phone non stop all day long inside a cubicle. I was so exhausted that I survived on coffee and trying to to fall asleep in traffic on the drive back to midtown.

You'll get stronger over time.
Also, consider your footwear.
And are you sure it's that far? 6-8 miles? That's pretty far. I had job like that but it was about hiking...there wasnt something else added on.
And what you are doing is most assuredly exercise. It's fine to be tired. I don't think people walk 6 or 8 miles on a regular basis, so they don't know how long it actually is. It's a little under 2 hours of walkung.
I don't throw out the working out term a lot, but that's me. I would definitely say it's aerobic calorie burning exercise.

How much water do you drink per day? Dehydration can do all sorts of things to you. You need to make sure you're replenishing your fluids frequently throughout the day. Besides that, diet and sleep play a huge role in your energy levels.

Sounds like you have one of those fed-ex jobs where you work at a hub. Those poor bastards walk all night long.
And I got a theory why you're exhausted. Probably because you walk 6-8 miles every night. That shite is tiring. I used to walk 5 miles every day until I got a job that prevented me from doing it anymore.
Anyone who gives you shite about that and says that isn't a good workout is dumb as frick.

dehydration could do it. Exercise wise you just might want to incorporate something to really get your heart rate going. A hard 2 mile run immediately after work always helps me out. Even if I feel like shite during the run it helps.

Definitely could be sleep apnea. I would go get a sleep study. If you have sleep apnea, a cpap will change your life

Go get your testosterone levels checked. I struggled with the same issues and now I take a shot twice a week. Made a world of difference in my life.

I used to work in the field and was on my feet all day. I also ate like shite and felt like shite. I've been in an office job for a few years now and hit the gym hard for one hour. I also eat better, feel better, and am more rested.
My guess would be that you may have several issues to address: better diet and better sleep are the best places to start.

carry a bag of chex mix or trail mix with you and munch all day to keep your metabolism going non stop. when i need to lose weight i eat at least 5 times a day, when im gaining weight its usually because im skipping breakfast and lunch most days. have to eat frequently to combat low metab.
ETA:: i feel similar after long periods of activity, but the prednisone i take kills my natural adrenaline production, so im shite after extended periods since im not making much of my own.
