Hi team - long time LSU fan but have never been to a game. That is all about to change though as I will be at the game this weekend v Eastern Michigan.
Hoping to check out the tailgate scene as we have nothing like that here in Australia. Too many laws and over regulated!
Dumb question... What time does 'tailgating', if that is a word, start? Do people pack straight up after the game or does it continue after the game?
Really excited but not looking forward to the 15.5hr flight from Sydney to DFW :(
Cheers,
Matt

For big games it's a few nights before. For Eastern Michigan it'll be the morning of the game. Tailgating is a word. It means to tailgate in the sports sense and when you're riding on someone's arse when driving.

Usually when there's a blowout game people will leave at halftime and go back to their tailgates where they party on into the night. For big games everyone stays and after the game they continue into the night and stop around 1am-2am.

RIP

Enjoy the game! Use your accent and you'll get tons of free food and beer at tailgates. Just show up and be nice and Australian.

Just made that flight last month. Spent a month in Perth. Generally speaking, tailgating starts more the 24 hours before the game & ends the next day some time.

Qantas premium economy was adequate but should've booked sooner for good deal on business class. That A380 flight 7 or 8 is crazy long

A small amount of people start at the crack of dawn. Most diehards kick it off closer to 8, with the average crew starting up closer to 10.

Unfortunately campus won't have a tremendous level of energy since it is a rent-a-win opponent. Regardless there will be plenty of people out having a good time.

When I was younger I spent many Friday nights/ Saturday morning hungover in my truck only to start the drinking again.

First beer was normally 6-7 am

I'm glad that you are coming, but a game like Eastern Michigan won't be a true feel of what Tiger Stadium is like. You would have to attend an LSU game against an SEC foe and come before halftime!

Chose this game as I am in Vegas the following week for a work conference (AWS). Work wasn't too happy I wasn't flying straight in and out, but I can't be that close and not get to a game. I would seriously love a bama / ole miss game but it was just whatever was happening around this conference.

Tailgating starts bright and early Saturday morning.

Trying to get the Australia-England World Cup game on a side tv at our tailgate but that might not happen.

If you're here in Vegas the weekend after, Sin City Tigers is a huge LSU alumni / fan base that has gatherings for all of the LSU games. You'll be here at a good time also...the temps are finally falling below 40 degrees C :)
