Clearly this guy thinks money is the only important part of football.
It's a way bigger factor than most here want to admit. Every year we talk about how some of these players will come back because of how much they love the school, and they probably do, but the money that is waiting for them that could help their families is just too much to pass up.

If I were an NFL exec I would look unfavorably on a player sitting out a year. That same type of player is gonna half arse it once he gets his payday

Weren't there always concerns about him taking plays off though?
I know they were his last year.
I can't remember if that's when he made the business decision or if he loafed throughout his time as USCe.
Either way, Fournette is in a different class character-wise so I can't see this ever being a concern.

Yes

FTR, I'm not saying this applies to Fournette. But everyone needs to get it out of their head that love for the school is always going to trump.
I remember a lot here thought Hill would stay another year because he "felt indebted" to Miles for sticking with him.

He's a football player....he will play football. Reporters are looking for clicks...it's what they do.

It would be tragic if he got hurt playing for free when he is worth millions today.
I can't believe the 3 year rule is still in place. It's plainly exploitative.

gurley almost got knocked out of first round last year with injury and he certainly lost money due to injury.

Then you will have some athletes leave because of the allure of money and will go undrafted and not picked up by a team. They will have no job and barely any education. Next people will complain that the schools aren't doing enough to educate its athletes. The three year rule is fine how it is because athletes like Leonard Fournette are once in a lifetime players.

That's probably a big part, sure, but the NFL is a lot more physically demanding than the NBA or MLB. Fournette can handle it, but the 3 year rule is protecting a lot of players.

Said same thing on le batard and stugotz show yesterday. they went a lil extreme and said he should just shut it down now, has nothing left to prove. This was in discussion about letting kids play hurt. That they shouldnt be giving college players needles, should ban it.
Posted on 9/30/15 at 10:46 am to yaherrdme
Well good thing fournette isn't a bitch
Posted on 9/30/15 at 10:46 am to yaherrdme
Well then why don't he stop playing now? Why finish this season. Apparently he proved all he needed to in college, so just quit and wait till the draft in 2017.

You will have a lot of great college players out of the game on the streets. Just because you are great in college doesnt mean you will even sniff the NFL. Some of these guys will be leaving school at 18 and 19. And if so, why even attend class? Should just get rid of College football then and have semi pro teams and let kids sign contracts at 14 like they do in European Football.

Tyrann Matthieu skipped 2012 and made his NFL debut in 2013.
LSU fans still love him.
Buga will be fine.

Not by Choice.
let me edit, he chose to do things that led him to be kicked off. If he didnt play well in the NFL, LSU fans would turn on him. Jamarcus did nothing wrong at LSU, Some fans hate him.

Would probably have been better had he not said this. Now when he leaves after his junior year, as he should, people will bring this up and try to turn it against him.

Next, this guy will be bitching about how dangerous football is.
I'll bet if it was a player from ALA, tOSU, Notre Dame, etc., etc., dishing it out the cries for his departure to the NFL would not be nearly so loud.

No he didnt. He was the first Rb taken. But lets just all forget he was suspended for 4 games as well, he missed 3 last season from injury.
