Saw it yesterday. Great, albeit not what I expected.

Saw it yesterday, really liked it. Emily blunt is awesome as per usual.
I'm not gonna lie, I thought she would have a bigger role. I was definitely surprised by the second half of the movie.

This is random, but I was shocked by how easy the Spanish was to understand. I could barely understand Narcos without subtitles.

Holy shite that was awesome
The pacing reminded me of Whiplash, no bullshite at all. Really great to see in theaters.

I was a little disappointed TBH. The movie tried too hard, and there was no emotional connection. It was well-paced and had good cinematography and performances, but it wasn't as thrilling as most top-tier thrillers IMO. I'll probably watch it again in theaters, though, because there were a lot of distractions tonight (people on cell phones, talking, etc.).

Did not know he directed this, moves Sicario into must watch territory for me. Prisoners is probably my favorite movie of the 2010s.

There is nothing ground breaking about the screenplay.
This is an example of a decent/solid story taken to another level due to direction, cinematography, acting, and score.
I mean, the whole scene of their incursion into Juarez is a great example. It was incredible for me
one critic called it, "an arthouse popcorn film"
I agree. Same source material with a Michael Bay or another director and it's just an average cartel flick.
I was completely immersed and hanging on every word. I actually had to pee when I sat down in my seat but I sat through the whole movie. it was that good

I plan on seeing Incendies this weekend as I've heard great things about it

Went last night. Really good movie, but don't expect 2 hours of gunfire and explosions. As previously stated by OP, this movie is all about the reality and brutality of the cartel and those who are fighting a losing battle trying to contain them. Opening 30 and final 30 minutes are amazing.
I'd say 8/10

Just went. Very tense film. Benicio Del Toro was superb. I was reminded again why Roger Deakins is one of my favorite cinematographers. A
Also Villeneuve has become one of my favorite directors. He's nailed it with his last few efforts.

Just got out. Loved it. The score was just awesome and made it a very tense movie. I wish I would have had a little more backstory about the Colombian person and the cartel but overall it was great.

Just got out of the theatre. I really enjoyed it.
The score was a home run. The first few minutes sets it off. Del Toro was a beast. Brolin is really good in it too. I thought Blunt's character could have been a little more hardened. She's too emotional / somewhat weak for a woman with that occupation.

Emily Blunt? Check.
I'll see it. Meets my criteria.

See, I just didn't feel that way at all. I was interested in where it was going, but I wasn't on the edge of my seat by any means. Also wasn't as impressed by the score as others in this thread; it was OK, but nothing special IMO.
As I've said, though, I picked a shitty night to watch it, as there were a handful of tPOSs whispering and texting during the movie.

Absolutely.
Just got out of Sicario. It was excellent across the board. Villeneuve's gift for building and maintaining tension is beyond impressive. Can't recommend this movie enough. The score was spot on as were all of the performances. Great film.

it's not so much that the score by itself is awesome. It's that it helped build up the tension. It was complimentary, not stand alone

Listening to that slow build as the caravan rides through Juarez, the dead bodies, not knowing who is a "bad guy"
It just works so well
