BERLIN — German prosecutors say they've charged a 91-year-old woman with 260,000 counts of accessory to murder on allegations she was a member of the Nazi SS who served in the Auschwitz death camp complex.
Schleswig-Holstein prosecutors' spokesman Heinz Doellel said Monday the woman, whose name wasn't disclosed due to German privacy laws, is alleged to have served as a radio operator for the camp commandant from April to July 1944.
Prosecutors argue that she can be charged as an accessory because she helped the death camp function. A 94-year-old former SS sergeant at Auschwitz was convicted on the same reasoning earlier this year.
Doellel says there are no indications the woman is unfit for trial, though a court likely won't decide on whether to proceed with the case until next year.

That's the government for you. No damn hurry to get anything done. Same reason it takes decades to get road projects completed.
If private companies were to be in charge of arresting her, she would have been taken to jail AT LEAST by 1994, a 50 year delay.

I wonder if she is still good-n-tight

Shouldn't you just let them die in peace at this point? I mean if you just found out this many years later then shame on the government. Lady probably can't even remember what she had for breakfast.
This is by no means saying I am siding with the lady by the way, just more shocked that resources are still being wasted like this on a 91 year old lady. If she did it then she should be punished, just kind of shocking how it is going down.

I fail to see what there is to gain from this.

Apparently the Germans are very serious about making sure to separate themselves and make amends for their past. To the point of absurdity.

I mean we did let a Nazi whose invention led to thousands of deaths come to the US, become an American Citizen and run NASA.
and we never regretted it for a second, though to be fair, he was more a German who had to work for his nation than a true NAZI.

I'm pretty sure they just changed the law a few years ago that allowed them to charge people that helped in the operation of the camps with all the deaths of those that were murdered there.

Most of the Nazi convictions are BS if you ask me, radio operators, guards outside of the facility etc. The massive amount of spinelessness Germany has now is pathetic. Doesn't matter anyhow, they will be under Sharia law in a decade or two.

Read Operation Paperclip. It was way more than just NASA.
