I'm going during Thanksgiving this year. Staying at Port Orleans. Never stayed there but I hear it's okay.

It's getting there. I was there last weekend, white people are starting to again stay in the Upper Ninth area.

I stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and it's nice. It's older but it's well kept up and convenient. You can go right out back and take a river shuttle to downtown Disney.

The Port Orleans is two Louisiana-ish resorts. The Jazzy Mardi Gras Mansion theming of the French Quarter area and the cajun swamp wilderness Riverside portion.

Guest of each are allowed to pool hop.

I'll take the Riverside any day. Very comfortable and the rooms have a trundle bed so with 2 kids, each had their own bed. Plus there is fishing, carriage rides (bring champagne), fantastic entertainment in the lounge, decent restaurants and a nice food court. Plus lots of quiet pools and areas.

French Quarter or Riverside? The 2 are completely different. POFQ is a small resort with only 1 bus stop. POR is similar to Caribbean Beach in that its broken up into clusters of rooms with multiple bus stops. I hear Riverside is nice, but POFQ is just too convenient for me to even want to think about staying somewhere with multiple bus stops.

You can see the two resorts in this Google Maps link. POR is at the top with several clusters of rooms in an oval shape and a road going around the perimeter of the resort with multiple bus stops. POFQ is a much more condensed resort with 1 bus stop right out in front of the main building.
