Damn, I was hoping the next pipeline I need permitted I could just find some minority group to pay to complain about any cultural resources that would be costly to route around. Has the SHPO in Louisiana weighed in on the debate at all?

you can't change history, keep the statues and worry about the fricking crime rate, not pieces of stone

Removing statues is such a bad idea. Are we going to stop printing Mark Twain too?

It's a complete cop out. Lee was a huge proponent of reunification after the war and was regretful of his participation in it. I can't think of anything more honorable than admitting your faults.

But I don't want to get into partisan stuff like facts.

Too bad the cheapest estimate was half a million. Sure it helps, but it doesn't make it free for the taxpayer.

New Orleans is such a shithole, that yes, we do have a Confederate museum
quote:

Confederate Memorial Hall opened its doors in New Orleans on January 8, 1891, and since that time has been commemorating the military history and heritage of the South. The museum is the oldest in Louisiana and houses one of the largest collections of Confederate memorabilia in the United States.
If tearing down the statues doesn't solve the crime, the Confederate museum obviously is to blame and needs to be burned

Eta: Then the Germans and the Japs will want the WWII museum torn down, and the VC will come for the memorial at Causeway and Vets. Oh wait.....they aren't trying to scapegoat anything

Idiot liberals being themselves. They've been trying to rewrite history like forever to make themselves feel good. Newsflash...a liberal will always be miserable no matter how many stupid things they do!

I simply can't think of any better uses for $125k. St Jude's has enough money for sick kids and the city has too much money for cops and infrastructure already.
