Supposed to be going Friday night.

Got any tips?

Legend has it that there are some big cats to be caught under there.

Go buy some soybeans or corn. Cover with water. Let it ferment on the sun. Pour up in a burlap bag with a few bricks. Drop in the fishing spot. Come back in a day or two with an extra ice chest.

No, it doesn't work. You need to do what everyone else does who goes out there at night. Bind the body to a large cement filled pipe and dump it overboard. Come back in a couple of days and cast top water lures over it. Works every time.

I have done this with dog food, but not with corn...sounds like a good idea...

Be prepared to get your line snagged constantly. There must be a secret that I don't know because I've never had luck there.

I've tried dogfood before but didn't have much luck. The only time I have had luck on a bonafide baited catfish hole is at Toledo bend where the marina we stay at throws their fish heads every day at a certain tree. Loaded the ice chest up with blue cats

Normally spring is the best time fishing over there. Best tips I can give you:
- Use "fresh" dead shrimp not previously frozen, night crawlers, or chicken livers. All work good over there.
- Use 1oz or more egg-drop sinkers depending on how fast the tide is moving. You have to feel the bottom or you will catch nothing.
- Cut you two lines about 1 foot a piece and use a three-headed swivel. Tie your weight on the bottom line and your No1 kahle hook above it on the second line. Keeps the bait off the bottom a little and I find it works better. You can always Carolina rig it but I just have better results the other way.
- If you are launching at Manchac, when entering the Pass, go past the ship channel and fish the piles right past it through there. Make sure you bring rope to tie off and fish whichever way the tide goes. You can try fishing before the ship channel but no one ever fishes there and I have never caught a thing on that side.

Hope this information helps!

Fished there Saturday late afternoon. Night crawlers and previously frozen shrimp we bought there at the Fuel Dock . Only caught 4 very tiny channel cats.
But,there are huge mullet swimming everywhere by the fuel dock. We thought about throwing the cast net and cutting some up for bait but we didn't.
