the night LSU fans became the most entitled in college football

last night i came onto a board in full meltdown… after a win. not only a win but a win on the road, against a ranked opponent. led by a QB who absolutely destroyed us the year before… after the first game of the season.
some people might've forgotten, but there was a time when we (LSU) weren't that good at football. when wins at home were scarce, let alone wins on the road. when seasons like 5-6, 2-9, 5-6 weren't down years or catastrophes, but the norm. when 9-3 was a reason to fais do do on the bayous. when the best players went out of state. when kids from other schools never thought about coming here. when we got our brains beat out on national television.
what happened to us? i think maybe the worst thing that could've happened: we won. two titles and a decade or so of being good to great has made us completely forget what it felt like to outright suck for almost a decade.
now we're like video gamers who hit reset on madden when the CPU wrecks our pet player's statistics. we complain because a blanton's is served to us in a rocks glass instead of a snifter. and we're positive that it's gonna be served to us in a dixie cup the next game and then a toilet bowl the game after that. in fact, it's not even us vs them anymore. no longer LSU versus Florida. frick Bama. Or Geaux to Hell Ole Miss. it's not our team is better than your team. it's our QB vs our Coach. Our OC vs our DC. frick Steele but yay Bebe.
we wring our hands about how someone's taken our precioussss football glory… which weirdly, is still in our hands. maybe if we don't like watching the games, maybe we should take the season off, four hours at a time, saturday at a time, and we can celebrate all the football after it's done being played. fast forward to the end of the movie where indiana jones retrieves the crystal ball and kisses the girl.
or maybe we could just kick back and enjoy the fact that at the end of the first chapter, lsu is 1 and Oh.

Tl;dr
Sorry if we don't accept ultra unbalanced conservative play calling.

We are tired of destroying teams early then going in to full blown scared shitless turtle mode and letting our opponents come back and have a chance to win.
State should never have been in that game last night.

You must not be too bright.
The team is great and I couldn't be happier.
Les miles coached the game after going up 21-6 like a scared little girl trying to hold on for dear life (when he didn't need to).

You'll be down voted by the people that hate everything about smashmouth.
Then come back and say "why can't we criticize Miles?"
Sure, criticize Miles all you want, but when you sit and dwell on it, it does no good. I sat frustrated at times last night as well, but you don't see me making sure everyone knows it all week

Prom for you to say you sat frustrated at times means volumes to me.

there is a difference between striving for excellence and being unhappy with anything short of perfection. if you are not one of those fans wringing your hands, then props to you.
hypothetically, not you per se.
what fun would sports be if LSU killed every opponent? that's not sports.
you spent four hours watching football last night. i hope you enjoyed the frick out of it. it engaged you for FOUR STRAIGHT HOURS. how amazing is that? if LSU would've killed them, you would've started getting drunk or changed the channel or talking more with your friends etc.
and news flash to everyone. LSU is great. LSU has been great this entire decade. With the exception of the down decade LSU football has been good to great for over a hundred years.
what's missing is the enjoyment of that greatness.

This is UF from last year all over again. We squeak out a W on the road against a mediocre SEC team, y'all swear we'll be fine and act like this perfomance in no way foreshadows what's to come, then we'll lose way too many games for our talent level again this year, and be disappointed due to yalls perennial offseason sunshine pumping. Always going from championship talk to "at least it's not the 90's" talk. If you don't see any issue with this, then I can't help you.

I'm not reading all that, but I assume you are bitching about us bitching about the that horrible play calling in the second half.
1. We have a wealth of talent outside of LF7 and Miles continues to deny them the ball.
2. Harris played exceptionally well and was building up some nice confidence then Miles turns him off.
3. We had a DECENT lead and miles slams on the brakes on offense wtf.
4. Defense played their asses off the first half, but Miles wore them out by the second with all that run, run, pass, punt in the second half.
We are not going to find success with that second half coaching philosophy. Miles/Cam had us running like a well oiled machine in the first half. Defense was beasting. Second half he went full tard and wore the defense down.

i watched a football team playing it's first game. i give them a C. they won. i saw potential for an A. i hope we get to see what A looks like. I hope we get to see it consistently.
but what i saw from this board was everyone screaming that we had an F. and fear and certainty that we were gonna make an F down the line. why watch football at all? that can't be fun.

except it isn't. nothing is the same. different coaches. different players. different player they're playing against. different points in time and space. different developmental arcs.
you're not the same person you were a year ago. this isn't the same team. if you can't improve, why don't you just give up?

where did i pump sunshine? did i say LSU was gonna win? i don't know if they will. but i watch the games to find out. i watch the games because i love LSU football and i will follow them win or lose. of COURSE i want them to win. but the hardships make the wins that much sweeter. and we, as a fan base, have experienced more sweetness than almost any team ever.
people have just forgotten.

i am absolutely positive that miles went around the huddle, pointed at dural dupre guice harris and said. frick YOU. YOU CAN"T TOUCH THE BALL TODAY.

I thought a good team is supposed to get better as the game goes along. How the frick do we score 14 points in first quarter and get 7 points the rest of the game? Coaching sure we had costly penalties it's the first game but coaches changed the game after quick success frick YOUR CONSISTENCY. Don't change what is working.
