I am looking to buy a quality pocket watch. I know virtually nothing about them and am curious as to how much I need to spend to get something that is reasonable quality. By reasonable I mean durable enough to pass on to someone years from now.

I'm in. I've been wanting one for a long time but they are so cheap online. I don't want a bobo one.

I have had a C.H. pocket watch for more than a decade. It recently stopped working. It was only $225,though,so I guess it was worth it. C.H. makes some beautiful pocket watches.

Try antique shops..I have my great grandfather's, wear it on occasions, encased in a rose gold, is very plain. Had to have it repaired when I received it, works well

Yep look into antique railroad watches, I have an Illinois and Pacific passed down to me from my grandfather and a newer (well 30 year old) Hamilton that I received at HS graduation.

I don't understand the appeal of pocket watches. Nothing but an inconvenience.
