Weather Channel cutting back reality shows to show more weather

That means paring back its original programming investments (shows like "Prospectors" and "Fat Guys in the Woods") and lifestyle coverage. The priority is essential, live weather coverage -- particularly during periods of severe weather -- and local information.

TLDR - The switch to reality has almost killed the channel due to low viewership. Time to cough up the $$ on what made the channel watchable all those years... Hot weather chicks and live tornado coverage.

Cancel the channel all together. They have an app that tells me if it's going to rain or not.

I'll be satisfied if they'll just get some new Local on the 8s music. I mean did The Weather Channel DJ forget to turn the record over? Same 4 or 5 songs every damn time.

The Weather Channel, the History Channel, and MTV all should serve as warnings to every network executive.
A short term boost by going away from your core programming, followed by a long and possibly fatal decline.
You don't watch Animal Planet for shows about animals any more. MTV doesn't feature music. The closest the History Channel comes to history is yet another show about Hitler being an alien.
If you are a niche network and you wander too far from your programming then it will catch up to you. Sooner rather then later.

My favorite channels to watch as a kid growing up in the 90s were Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, the History Channel, the Discovery Channel, and TLC. The latter three were because I loved history and science. I didn't watch for reality television - which is what they have turned those last three channels into.

They're pretty bad at doing the weather though.

Just need to get some more OT 10 weather babes. Might watch then

People just like to scream, doesn't mean they'll actually watch.

All of this! I want music videos on MTV and History on the History Channel. I really don't mind the Ancient Aliens stuff and the historically based fiction series like "Vikings" and "Hatsfields & McCoys", but shite like "Ice Road Truckers", "Ax Men", "Pawn Stars", and "American Pickers" has got to go.

Yep.
I remember growing up how stoked I was when our local cable provider got the History Channel. I watched it constantly, and I couldn't get enough of their documentaries with Edward Hermann doing narration.
Now it's completely unwatchable, and literally the only bit of history on that channel is when the guy from Pawn Stars gives some half-arsed explanation of the historical background of an antique someone brings in.

We stopped watching when they became liberal and started shoving the fake global warming, climate change crap.
And when Jim Cantore started doing push ups in the street.

And they could have gotten away with having one or two reality shows. Instead they went balls deep into it.

Hell, I have weather apps on my phone. I can see radar on my phone. Only time I need them is during an actual disaster such as a hurricane.
