I'm still getting downvoted for criticizing Jurgen lolz
I learned from the friendlies that we will never have continuity or cohesion under this coach. Also, Jurgen's experimentation is completely asinine at this point.

Ray Hudson was trying to be neutral at the start of the football show. He's starting to rip him now though.
He's about to get fired up

I've been patient with Jurgy but agree with all the criticism in this thread. There are many things I just can't make sense of at this point in his tenure. I find it impossible to believe he doesn't know the players in his pool any better than he does.
Also, aside from all that, I learned that probably not a single player in our squad last night could start for Brazil, with the exception of maybe the goalkeepers.

We have 1 quality fullback who is old and injured.
The next best is a midfielder who plays fullback.
Then there is 50 piles of shite. And then there are out of position players....then there is timmy chandler.
Guzan gets the short end of the stick by not having any consistency or quality in front of him. Hard to know when to come off your line when you have no idea what your backs will do.
Bedoya is an attacking or wide mid. Nowhere deeper than that.
Bradley is still a box to box guy, no matter how much Jurgen doesn't want to believe it.
Jermaine Jones has lost a step in age.
Jozy is pretty lazy most of the time, and has a terrible attitude on the pitch.
I was impressed with some of the youngsters who came on late in the 2nd half. Morris, Wood, and Iceman. Those guys looked pretty good, albeit in short time.

LOL.
I don't even give a shite anymore.
This is approaching 2006 DGAF levels. What a frickin joke. We've made zero progress whatsoever.

It's all good. I'm the Jurgen fanboy in these parts, and I'm frustrated. I don't care if we beat Brazil. I just want to see some consistency or direction. I've spent years touting the benefits in the long run. I just want to see any semblance of an identity. That was my whole point behind defending him. I felt like he could give us an identity outside of "scrappy" players punching above their weight.
I'm not saying that I'm completely off of the bus here. I'm just at the point where I'm tired of having to rationalize some of these decisions. Michael Bradley, while not nearly as effective as in his true position, has the quality to play higher in the formation if the reason is that he's one of our best (and only) distributors. Bedoya, on the other hand, shouldn't be that deep in a position he's never played in a friendly against one of the teams capable of really punishing that.
I am fully convinced that we'll win the playoff against Mexico because Jurgen turns into a god damned genius villain when Mexico's happiness is involved. I just don't want to see us completely embarrassed in next year's tournament, which means things need to come together quick.

That despite the growth of MLS and the implementation of academies, a term I'm using loosely, the USA is still incapable of developing high-level international footballers.

TN Bhoy, do you honestly think that Bedoya is "creative"?
It's all relative with our player pool, but he has shown a bit of guile at Nantes.

@SoccerByIves: Asked Klinsmann why he didn't play Cameron in central defense in these friendlies. "We have centerbacks we believe in." #USMNT
It's going to be Alvarado and Brooks for Mexico. We should just accept it.

That Jurgen makes tactical decisions based on what he wishes the players were instead of what the players actually are.

Its time to make Morris the starter upfront. He attacks defenders and drives to the goal. he has created chances in every appearance
Jozy is playing holding forward but has zero touch- how mnay passes into him bounce yards away of his curb like feet?
the 19 year old attacking Jozy is gone, replaced by a too heavy standing around one

Y'all, like it or not Jozy is our most consistent goal thread, bar maybe Clint. The only person to score more goals before the age of 25 was Landon Donovan. Until we find a legit better option I think we keep starting him.
Posted on 9/9/15 at 11:17 am to cwil177
Against Peru, Jozy did what I've always wanted him to do. He stayed around the box, he was physical, he tried to take players on, he made off the ball runs, and he held up the ball. He reverted to Bad Jozy against Brasil. My heart sinks every time I see him around the center circle.
Posted on 9/9/15 at 11:28 am to TN Bhoy
Why is he around our center circle? Because he is starved for service.

Because he gets the starts and takes penalties.

True. But at the expense of what other players?

A friendly here or there is hardly time to find a better option. Should have left Jozy out while "experimenting" to get another striker a chance.

I quoted both of these because I think together they cut right to the quick.
To what degree do you all think some of Klinsmann's problems have to do, quite simply, with having made such a big deal out of "changing the way USA plays" and getting the fanbase enthusiastic about it but not really having the quality of players to do it?
Is this basic incongruity why he's being very cavalier in his flip flopping on tactics and player selection between dueling impulses of getting results and playing a more fluid game?
This isn't really to be overly harsh on USA's player pool. They're not awful but, at the same time, I'm sure Bosnia, Poland, Denmark (all countries that may not have depth but certainly have more key players at levels the USA does not) etc etc etc would all love to play like Germany or Spain and there's a pretty simple reason they don't unless it's against San Marino and even then they often look a bit out of character.
Italians, for example, absolutely worship Brazil's golden era of Samba futbol but get better results when they stick to their bread and butter of practicality with "11 coaches on the field".
I'm not defending Klinnsman because I don't think he's a particularly impressive manager and seems be a far too headstrong for his own good.
However, I can also see the side of the coin that says he's in a tough spot since USA's "bread and butter" is probably the exact style every one seems hellbent to abandon.

ICT plays a better brand of soccer than Jurgy has the US play.
