Whenever lightening is within 6 miles we should always shut down everything... roads, schools, work, hospitals, etc..... It's way to dangerous out there.
Boo!

I was sitting directly across from the band. They stayed in the stands well after the teams were cleared. They only left the stands when the rain was ready to hit. My wife told me wow those poor kids must really feel valued.

For the first delay there was no rain, and we couldn't see any lightning. Most of us just chilled in the stands. For the second delay, the sky was looking ominous, but still no rain. Then the skies opened up. They couldn't make people leave the stadium, there were people riding out the storm in their seats, but most moved to the concourse.
At one point the rain haf slacked up enough that me and my daughter ran around the stadium in the rain. We got to witness a guy get arrested for running across the field. We saw this muscle bound dude rip his wet shirt off and start swinging it over his heas while gyrating his hips to Sweet Caroline. So the night wasnt a complete waste.

The announcer told us to seek shelter after the first lightning strike. Some complied but it wasn't until the rain started that ppl started going into the concourses. i would say 80% of the student section evacuated at that point. Then when the rain stopped and ppl came back to their seats, i would say the stadium was about 30% full. Then the next strike happened and they announced we could leave and come back in if we wanted to. That led to pretty much everyone leaving at that point.

I'm sorry professor, with lightning within 6 miles of this classroom I don't feel safe taking your test at this time. Maybe in 30 minutes, though based on radar you may need to cancel the test entirely. And as I have another test scheduled for a week from now, there will be no make-up test.

A friend of mine caught a lighting strike on camera that looks very close to the stadium.....like within 400-500 yards. I'm sure it looks closer than it was, but asking people to go into the concourse was probably justified.

We were told to take shelter.
When the teams left the field they told everyone to take shelter but it was still hot and no evidence of lightning nearby so not many left. About20-30 min later they said severe weather was imminent and everyone needed to take shelter and that drove most underground. About 30- 45 min later the rain stopped but lightning was still evident in the area so but a lot of people went back to their seats.
