Was the stadium evacuated when the first delay started? If not, when were they told to leave?

I didn't hear them tell people to take shelter until after a couple of hours when the second band was coming through.

So, you wanted LSU to tell people to go outside the stadium in the driving rain? Instead of taking cover under the stands wherre it was dry?

Just wondering if they forced people to take shelter from the lightning,,,Aleva said they were worried about player safety, what about fan safety

Correct.

Dan told everyone of the stoppage and why and that fans were encouraged to take shelter when the players left the field. With no rain, most did not as the lightning was a ways off but within the range that caused the shut down. I did not go down into the concourse until a good while after when he then mentioned that there was weather coming through soon. I hadn't brought a Ziploc bag for my phone and I had my 8 year old with me, so we went down. Normally we'd have stayed put, as I'd prefer to take my chances in the rain than getting crushed in the concourse with a child.

FWIW, the lightning was never very close but was within that range they feel warrants the shutdown. everytime it was flash, my son would start counting. He never heard thunder in under 10 seconds... At no point did it ever feel scary, though I fully understand the desire to keep everyone safe.

Funniest part is at first they left the band in the stands.

That's the thing...the stadium can't hold 90,000 people in the concourses safely. No friggin way. The only way that could remotely work is if many leave, some stay put while others go down. They suggest it, but if everyone went and stayed there it would be mayhem.

I always stay in my seat. I'd rather take my chances with lighting than a stampede panic.

No they didn't. Once the announcement was made to seek shelter, the band evacuated both times.
