No I agree there's no comparison in regards to quality. But if the OP wants a track car and a badass street car, he can drop $20,000 for a C6 with no mods or pay $7,000 for a decent LS1 F-body and then drop some money into it and still be nowhere near $20,000 and have a beast.

Do you care about image?
Because an older Camaro is one of the trashiest looking cars imo
Everyone cares about image on some level. If I had the Camaro, I wouldn't enjoy driving it until it was pushing 600+ horses, because otherwise it's just another Camaro on the road.
I consider an 8 year old vette to be on the verge of trashy

To get that kind of horsepower from a naturally aspirated motor you're living on the edge. It's a hassle to toe the line between full on race car and practical street car. It's difficult to have both, but in my opinion the corvette is the best of both worlds. You can make minimal upgrades an not have to worry about something breaking every time you take it out.

You have much more room for growth with the Z06. It will always be a better all around car than a Camaro

what about a c5 z06? From what i understand they make great track cars. There is a beautiful blue one on a lot on 190 in Covington.

If I was building a cheap race car, that would probably be it

Get an air cooled 911
While the 993 (now ridiculous in price) are cool as well as the 930s and the like... Just no.

C6 Z06 and it's not even remotely close

If I'm going Vette, it's going to be the LS7. It's got around 100 more horses than the C5 Z06.

I've always wanted a C6Z. It wouldn't take many mods for that 7.0L to make serious power

of '08, 09 ’10 and ’11 Z06’s • GM discovered the condition through our cylinder headwarranty data involving a very small percentage of our vehicles. • Through inspection of returned heads, it was determined that a machining error in the valve guidehad occurred at our head supplier. • The quality issue has been contained as of Feb 2011 with 100% inspection of all heads. • The most common customer complaint has been excessive valve train noise. However if the condition is not addressed, it could result in engine failure. To date, where this condition has been observed, it has occurred early in the vehicle life. What customers need to know: They should drive and enjoy their vehicles without fear. If their car demonstrates this condition, they are likely to hear unusual valvetrain noise first. If you have a concern regarding this issue on your personal vehicle feel free to contact me through private message on this forum and we will work to assist in resolving your concern. Feel free to contact me through Socialmedia@gm.complease put attention Evan in the subject. As always, vehicles that have modifications to the powertrain or the calibrations, are no longer covered by GM's warranty. Sincerely, Evan, Chevrolet Customer Service

That's all I've ran across so far on the 7L V8

Get a C6 Grand Sport and spend the rest on hookers and blow.

Z06 Corvette or an old Camaro? You really need help with this decision?

You know my question is not as simple as that unless you're that simple.
Choke on a dick, bitch.

If by track you mean something other than drag strip exclusive then yea, it is that simple

The difference? Within 500 miles of NOLA, the cheapest C6 Z06 is $25k and average price is $47k. The cheapest Grand Sport is $32k and the average is $46.6k.
