Kevin Faulk has the LSU freshman rushing yardage record

no slight to Fournette, just an FYI, because he keeps getting listed as the top freshman rusher in LSU history, and that's not correct.
the confusion comes in because prior to 02 or 03, when a player's stat totals were given, their bowl games weren't included. so you generally see that Faulk had 852, which is his regular season total only. he got 234 ( ) vs Michigan State in the Independence Bowl to get to 1086 total.
Faulk's regular season stats
if the stats guys are gonna include Buga and JV's postseason stats, they gotta do it for Faulk too.

ETA:
the stats change came beginning with the 02 season

I'll take Vincent's freshman season everyday, mainly due to team success.

This doesn't really make sense.

I am curious how many carries faulk got vs fournette?

On so you would take Vincent over Leonard and Faulk is what you're saying

Well, no one finished their freshman season at RB for LSU better than Vincent, that's for sure.

I mean he also was the MVP of the SEC championship and the National Championship if that means anything

I guess what I meant was the Success he helped bring to the team.

I agree. The records for today's college football are a bit misleading because you're only counting 11 games for guys in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. While today's players get the benefit of at least 12 games and on some occasions 15 games.

My point is, who says Faulk couldn't have done this had he had a 2003-caliber defense on the other side of the ball or a better passing attack?

Faulk (11 games) - 199/ 1086 yds/ 8 TDs
Fournette (13 games) - 187/ 1034 yds/ 10 TDs

So in your eyes Faulk has the record??

yep. and again, it's no knock on anyone, it's just weird to me that no one seems to have noticed this and adjusted record books accordingly.
what got me to even take notice of this was when Tebow started breaking SEC records his senior yr (including a couple of Faulk's), somebody on sports talk here brought up the fact that Herschel's bowl totals weren't being factored in.

I agree. I don't see why the bowl game shouldn't count. I consider Faulk the record holder.

Valid point, and I believe all three could likely do so. I guess I was just remembering how big he prefomred in HUGE games when he was so young. Glad all three are tigers

I agree and to me Faulk is GOAT. But if we are looking at numbers, give LF7 those additional 11 carries and what would he have had?

Justin Vincent: 154 Carries 1,001 yards & 10 touchdowns.
Based on Math:
Fournette: 5.529 YPC * 199 carries = 1100.35 yards
Vincent: 6.5 YPC * 199 carries = 1293.5 Yards
Regardless, Faulk had the most yards = the record holder

Herschel also only played 3 years.
Records (like any statistic) can be a bit misleading when viewed in a vacuum because comparisons often aren't apples-to-apples. More years, more games, more carries, different schemes, different surrounding talent, etc.
