but Hilliard had a better freshman year.
And soph and jr and sr years.........
True, but after Hilliard's freshman year, everyone knew he was going to be a huge star. He was amazing. Everyone expected him to do well in his soph and jr and sr years, and he did.

James wasn't crap compared to Dalton.... Nothing against Garry, But he was not even in the same zip code at LSU as Dalton........
Dude, why so angry? They were both drafted out of LSU in the second round. In fact, James was selected before Hilliard. They were definitely in the same zip code.

I've always heard that Fournette was getting touted as having the record for the most total yards or all-purpose yards as a freshman

misleading stat - and this isn't a jab at Fournette. I've hated this stat for decades.

Every kick returner will probably get at least 4 returns per game, maybe a lot more depending on the quality of his team's defense. Even at a pedestrian 20 yards per return, 4 returns gives another 80 "all-purpose" yards per game. It looks good on the stat sheet, but it's extremely mediocre.

The more telling stat is yards from scrimmage, which would take into account rushing and receiving production.

it's no knock on anyone, it's just weird to me that no one seems to have noticed this and adjusted record books accordingly.

Everyone knows this. It isn't that no one noticed, it's that that is how the books read officially

If you are going to change the rules to add Faulk's bowl game, then I could just as easily change the rules and subtract LFs bowl game

In that scenario, LF is the champ.

Official rules = LF
your altered rules= KF
my altered rules= LF

I agree. The records for today's college football are a bit misleading because you're only counting 11 games for guys in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. While today's players get the benefit of at least 12 games and on some occasions 15 games.

That's why you look at yards per carry and yards per attempt and yards per reception.

agree and to me Faulk is GOAT. But if we are looking at numbers, give LF7 those additional 11 carries and what would he have had?

shite if he got those 11 carries in the bowl game he'd probably have 1200 yards and 12 TDs, but what's done is done.

All historical stats are skewed. Just accept the ones given on lists for sports. This is not to downgrade previous players. I'm sure Dalton, Kevin, and even Justin are not losing sleep over this. Why should any of us? It doesn't mean someone was better or worse.

Everybody knows stats are skewed, just look at the US Governments stats in depth for confirmation.

Or just do some simple math and add the game in

Faulk ran for more yards his freshman year
