Bought a new Geissele MK8 MLOK rail to put on my 8.5" 300blk upper (I moved my KMR to my 10.3" 5.56).
I'm very pleased with the design. Very robust construction with a 2" barrel nut, two crossbolts, and two anti-rotation tabs that slip over the receiver that are buffed by two set screws.
When I slide the handguard over the barrel nut, this happens...
The culprit: The anti-rotation tabs. For some reason, my receiver is too thick for them to mate up.
I left a message with a tech at Geissele and am waiting on a call back. Ive searched and found a forum post where a guy had a similar issue that Geissele resolved. It was old though, so I'm preparing just in case.
In a worst-case scenario, would it be possible to file those tabs down until it mates up? I don't see why not, but I'd be a little scared to do it. What do yall think?
On a happier note, my 5.56 upper is SICK with the 9" KMR

Is that a milspec upper?

I don't see why you can't file it down, but that would be my last option

File them sumbitches down... or take a Dremel to it. Is it a tool or a goddamn safe queen? I throw my AR's around, hit them against shite, paint them, shoot them... they don't have to look pretty.

Haven't used a Noveske upper for an AR build, but just looking at the pictures there are some definite differences between your upper and a standard, flat-top M4 upper. If you have a mil-spec upper handy I'd make some comparison measurements between the two to make sure the area above the mag well is the same dimension before escalating this with Geissele.
Edit: look at your last picture...the standard 5.56 upper tapers in below the bore and above the mag well, the Noveske does not. Noveske is not a standard upper.

I would contact the upper mfg and complain. Advertised as mil spec but it is not. They are at fault not Geissele. Maybe they can exchange it for one that works.
