Had my first dip at 11, and started hitting it hard at 14. Now I'm 25 and the dentist called to do a biopsy. I was at work and couldn't answer so he called my wife and she's not too happy.
Needless to say, I thought about it and I guess it's about time I throw it out. Every time I try, I get to about day 2 and I crack. What's some things y'all know of that works to take the edge off?

Switch to pouches and that makes the transition a little easier. Also sunflower seeds are your best friend.

Nothing helped me. 2 cans a day for over twenty years. Did not want to quit so that made it worse. Sounds like you want to give it up.
Best of luck to you.

Go cold turkey. It's hard as hell but you can do it. Don't substitute dip for another firm of nicotine.
Get a quit date, stick to it and man up. You will enjoy life much better without the ball and chain that is nicotine.

Mints helped me a lot. Would put it in like a dip and let it sit there. Seemed to help with the cravings.

My hardest time was during work. Lot of periods of boredom made me want a dip bad but I would try to find something to do to take my mind off it. Still crave every now and then.

Big Red, Sunflower Seeds, rockey mountain for oral fixations
If you get anxiety ask the doc for some welbutrin for a month or two to help you get over it.

Just cut the chase and have part of your jaw and teeth cut out. That will make the idea of quitting seem like your only real choice.
My mother smoked for twenty five years and stopped. Cold turkey. Hardest and best decision she ever made.

I quit cold turkey 4 years ago this week. The only "aid" I had in helping was that I had 3 teeth pulled at once and my mouth was so sore for a week and a half that I didn't want a dip. I tried putting one in after the soreness in my mouth went away and it just didn't taste right. I do still have cravings every once in a while though. I don't think those will ever stop. There is always a trigger for the craving such as sitting in the boat fishing, etc. You can do it, just have to put your mind to it.

Cold turkey, but like others have said it's tough and you really have to want to do it. I started when I was 14 and quit when I was 31. I got a stomach bug and figured as much as I puked there was no nicotine left haha. I decided it was a good time to quit and went cold turkey. I tried seeds, but they tore my mouth up. I bought a big bag of skittles and would get one or two when I wanted a dip. One thing I noticed is that it made a huge difference with my conditioning and I started to enjoy working out more. Also started chewing gum after meals seemed to help as well. We can all tell you what worked for us, but you'll have to experiment to find something that works for you. Just stick with it!!

honestly, it doesn't sound like a matter of what is convenient or comfortable for you at this point...if you have to get biopsies, you are teetering on the edge of some pretty bad shite...
don't let your fear of failure delay your quitting for another minute...

This - I also did the tobacco cessation program through work and used chantix, really helped curb the nicotine, I still haven't curbed the oral side of the habit - 16mos no nicotine but I still enjoy a wintergreen smokey mtn dip every now and than just don't crave nicotine.

First, you don't need motivation you need determination.
I quit 15 years ago after dipping for 17 years. I still dream about it. My urge has never left.
I looked at two reasons to quit and determined to quit.
1st) I had young kids and I was trying to teach them to make good decisions. I read the label on a can that said, "may cause cancer", then thought about lying in a hospital bed and explaining to my kids that I would not be there for graduations, weddings, births, etc. because I chose to dip. I knew no one at the time that had any ill effect from dipping but, I still couldn't justify spending everything I earned in my life to treat cancer while I was rotting in the mouth.
2nd) I was dipping a four wheeler payment a month. I wanted a new four wheeler and realized I could have paid for one with what I was spending on Copenhagen.
