What's up with Ralph's Supermarket?

The one on the corner of Tiger Bend and Jones Creek is changing names. Shopper's Value or something? Are they changing all of their stores? It's a shame, cause we really loved the Ralphs bakery and deli.

Yeah turning into shoppers value
That's the only Ralph's that's closing

Ralph's sold it to the piggly wiggly guy who is converting all his stores to shoppers value. they have an interesting business model...everything in the store is at cost plus 10%

How are they? Will they have a deli and bakery? Name brand products?

I wouldn't expect it to be as nice as Ralph's
Ralph's has a good business in freshly prepared food items but they have a much higher food cost, and most of the time are thus lower in profit
supposedly at the register at shoppers value store cost is calculated and then the 10% is added. I wouldn't expect a lot of store made items because that stuff carries labor cost in addition to food cost

Yeah keep believing that

I didn't say it was to the consumers benefit
I said it was interesting
I can promise you you will see more of this in the retail marketplace

It's fricking retarded. For every price you see in an ad or on the shelf, they add 10% at the register.

Well the culture around there is pushing people to Rouses market. Not far and a lot better for folks who don't want to be robbed or deal with the lower clients.

Well that doesn't sound right since the typical supermarket only has a 1-2% profit margin.

Uh no.
As for Ralph's.
They made a few dumb financial decisions and won't be around much longer.
Only one of their stores turns any real profit.

Was K&B in that space or next door where the purple cow thrift store is now?

Reviving the thread. I went into Shopper Value yesterday to get a few things(first time since it opened this week). They do indeed add 10%...but it ain't cost plus. I bought a bottle of wine that cost more there than it did at Ralphs, and a few other items whose prices were the same, then they added 10% surcharge. I was not aware of this "business model" when I went in, bit there are signs everywhere that say it. I had a conversation with the toothless manager, and a tatted up checkout girl about it and they basically said too bad... I laughed and said, enjoy managing the store for the next 2 months.
I will not be back...

Has to be on Hwy 44. When I lived in GZ it was right down the road and they always had fresh cooked lunches, and all the really good cajun products you don't find elsewhere. Someone in purchasing knoe there is a niche for rare products. (for instance cajun hot nuts you find at LSU games, Frostop bottled root beer) During power outages (I think Hurricane Issac for a week or so) they were always open running on generators.

So is the deli still there or no? I tried to go Tuesday to get catfish and I pulled up and some chick said the store was closed till 3 to remodel. If this place is shite then I'll be pissed. Ralph's was fine as it was.
