how is a tiny little participation trophy doing that?

What is the message you're trying to send with the participation trophy?

Jesus Christ there was no freaking message. In 1992 we would go to Gattis and stuff our faces with pizza and get a shitty trophy.

What message? That they had fun and were part of a group. Only a mentally challenged child would think they won the league when they didn't, I get my kids things to remember vacations too.

Let's see James Harrison has beat his girlfriend, had his pit bull attack his kid, and been disrespectful to his President, his teammates, and others.

I will happily parent in a 180 degree difference than that sociopath

There is no message. they are fricking 8 years old and 99.9% of them don't care about winning or losing and they are playing for the fun of it. Jesus. They are 8 fricking years old. You can teach kids the value of competition while also pointing out that you don't have to win to enjoy athletic competition
