1st in rat sitings and 2nd in cockroach sitings. Prisoner 148552 wanted a chocolate city....he should have figured this would happen. Sugar ants might be next.

Rats and roaches have been commonplace since before NOLA was built, sooo...bye.

Nothing new, ever walked across the street from Decatur and just walked by the river at night?
Never saw anything?

Took some visiting family to the Quarter a few weeks ago and stopped by Cafe Du Monde. A family of rats kept darting out for the bushes to grab crumbs and a child from a tourist family kept trying to play with them...cute all the way around. Life in a city.

When I bartended at Pat O's back in the early/mid 90s (emphasizing that this was BEFORE it was a restaurant) - People used to point out the "kitties" in the trees in the courtyard. Decided they probably didn't need to know they were looking at 8-10lb wharf rats.

Have never had a rat in my house(that I know of)
Rarely see roaches. I spray the commercial stuff once a month which seems to kill everything.

I went to Chart Room, Harry's, and Chuck's a few weekends ago and saw a roach at each place. That's not a knock on those places, the roaches are common.
Those Norwegian rats are the real problem, they're just plain gross. But it's nothing compared to NYC. You'll see them on the tracks if you're standing on the subway platform or ask anyone who's had a ground level or basement apartment there.

Took my wife and two friends to the Steely Dan concert a 6 or so months ago. Before the concert we had a early dinner at Mondo in Lakeview.
While eating we saw a huge cockroach crawling across the floor and it stopped under a two top where a young couple were seated. My wife's crazy friend Johnnie jumped up and decided she would stomp the roach under their table while they were eating.
It took her a few stomps before she finally got it. I really don't know what that couple thought she was doing, but after they figured it out they were quite grateful.
I wonder how many meals were ruined that night. Crazy Johnnie, you really can't take her anywhere without something ridiculous happening.

I found this monster behind my toilet when I rented a shotgun in uptown a couple years ago.

That explains all of the blood.
I didn't know it was legal to rent shotguns. I bet you didn't get your security deposit back.

I have a vivid memory of mom finding one in the dog food bucket when I was young. Big rat. Dad reached down, picked it up by it's tail, and beat it to death with a baseball bat.

Seems to be doing well, but mostly seems happy so that's the big thing.

You see him again soon tell him I said hello. I know when he quit posting here he was trying to get his life in order. Glad to see he is finding some happiness.
