What's the reason?
USC and UCLA have a hatred for each other... SC/ND not as much........

They have played in some of the most iconic games in the sport's history (1964, 1968, 1974, 1977, 1978, 1988, 2005).

Um, what? You base that on what?
I can assure you that ND fans loathe SC. The only SC fan to chime in on this thread said he's rather beat ND than UCLA. I don't know many ND alumni or fans who wouldn't say the same thing. Everything from that stupid V hand sign to hearing Tribute to Troy over and over and over again to their douchebag sunglass-wearing band to the fact that every great run they've had has been followed closely by probation to OJ Simpson...we hate it all.
Have you ever even been to an ND/SC game at the Coliseum or in South Bend?

Nope but I have watched every one since the early 70's.. ND has more of a jealousy complex than a hatred for SC... The last ten years the rivalry hasn't meant crap... Its lost its luster...

Again, what?
You know we have a winning record against them, right? 45 - 35 - 5. We have more national titles, more Heismans, more wins, a higher total winning percentage, etc, etc, etc. You know we have won 3 of the last 5 and had an eleven game winning streak in the 80's and 90's against them, right? Why in the frick would we have a jealousy complex against that? Do some research before you spout that BS.

why are you so obsessed with denying that Texas is A&Ms rival?

Are college football rivalries still important?
Just ask the fans of
UA and AU
OU and UT
Harvard and Yale
Army and Navy
FSU and The U
UCLA and USC
USC and Notre Dame
Michigan and OSU

i would call the USC/ND rivalry over-rated. I think now people see Alabama/Auburn and Michigan/Ohio State, Florida/Florida State, OU/Texas as more important than ND/USC. The schools are so far apart there's no regionalism to it. You don't run into someone who's a ND fan if you live Los Angeles as much as someone who lives in Toledo runs into a Michigan fan.
ND has a good rivalry with USC but you play in South Bend in October and Los Angeles in November which is a good idea though which is a an offer some big ten teams and SEC teams need to make with each other.
Have LSU come up to East Lansing or Ann Arbor in September and then have MSU or UM visit Baton Rouge in October or November to minimize the weather.
But it would be cool to see MSU have to play LSU in early September and to see LSU play MSU in November when it's snowing. lol.

USC/ND is considered the greatest intersectional rivalry in CFB.
They have been playing since 1926, when each team traveled across the country by train because plane travel wasn't available (hence the different times of the fall it was played).
Five of the ten most watched football games are the SC/ND rivalry, and more national championships have been decided by the game.
The historical significance is matched only by a couple of others.
And Dukke, you have no idea what you are talking about. As an 'SC alum I know.

And there are numerous of SC alums that I know who would put the game with the Bruins higher just because they interact with them more. But it really isn't that big a deal

I am not saying ucla is not a rival-- they are.
All things considered, Notre Dame is a more significant rival in football.

and i never said they werent, i said that from a USC fan perspective, a good number consider ND and UCLA pretty equal. if you put a gun to their head then theyd probably say ND is the more important game, but its pretty equal in actuality and numerous USC alums/current students that i know put the bruin game higher just because they interact with the bruins a lot more

Generally speaking, because of proximity USC and ucla have a rivalry in terms of most things.
However, in regards to football, ND is the bigger rival.

and i never said they werent, hell, USC isnt our #1 rival in basketball. thats arizona

To the OP hell yea rivalries are important as a fan at the least. OSU has a clock to countdown to TSUN 365 days a year and the history makes it important to the young and old alike

I agree with you. 76-37-5 doesn't seem like much of a rivalry to me.

Meh. Texas would have a huge series lead over like 99% of college football
