Be sure to take video of this ensuing catastrophe.

familiarize yourself with the blade, this is the most complex part of the bulldozer. Grew up around excavators bulldozers and 18 wheelers.
Concrete crew?

Just watch the blade or you will tear up the property. I suggest getting the guy who brings the machine to show you the basic operations

Hope the OP makes a One Call just in case of this.

And it's not even close.
Komatsu shits on CAT IMO and I have owned and rented a lot of equipment over the years.
About the only other brand I would own besides Komatsu would be Bobcat when talking about a Mini Ex or Skid Steer loader.
My forklift is a CAT though because I got a good deal on it.

The only komatsu I would buy is a forklift and that's it. Komatsu is like JCB shitty heavy equipment

We just bought a Cat 336 track hoe couple months ago and it's a bad bitch.

Hope they send him a brand new one where the hydrostatic controls are still tight. I rented one that Redfish had just gotten in the day before and you would barely bump the control and it would jump. Took a minute to get used to.

I've always had great luck with them. Especially their mini excavators and feel like they have more power than comparable models from other brands.

Depends on the size/length of the tracks but one of the first things I learned was if you gouge, pick up the blade and back drag to fill the gouge right then or when the front of your tracks hit the gouge, you'll gouge again.
Blade control takes a lot of practice. Keep the blade angled while your learning, it will make it much easier for you and the gouges won't affect you as much. Keep rolling dirt one way then come back and roll it the other way.

They let people with GEDs operate them everyday
Hmm. Potential job opportunity

It isn't hard at all. Rent whatever is cheapest (usually from the Volvo or United rentals places). Get them to drop it off and pick it up.
You're not gonna be able to rent anything big without insurance

A LOT of people like Deere over CAT
When it comes to earth moving equipment, far more people choose Cat over the rest, including Deere and Komatsu. Cat is simply the best product on the market, period.
As for Deere, not only do they fall far short of Cat, they're also widely viewed as being below Komatsu in earth moving equipment. Deere makes a great line of ag machines, they also are huge in forestry. But Deere is not near as popular in the earth moving, road building, mining, or aggregate worlds. Cat is on top of all those.

Wouldn't recommend using one if you've never operated one before. I'd suggest getting a skid steer
This.
If you hire someone with experience who knows what they are doing it will pay off in the long run.

I doubt you'll be able to rent one. Those are extremely expensive and extremely dangerous machines. Even a small one is in the 6 figure price range.
