Retired U.S. Army Gen. Russel Honore, Louisiana's most well-known 21st century military hero, said America is mired in a state of denial about its gun culture and that's harming the country.

Honore hates America, Louisiana, and it's citizens. Glad I'm not a citizen of Louisiana with public figures who have this mentality.

Met him before. He's a great public speaker... but seemed like a real dickbag.

This just helps me confirm my previous feelings of his dickbaggery

So he speaks about the recent mass shootings and doesn't understand why people would want to be armed for their own safety.

Honore would love nothing more than to disarm the country like he did in NO and only he has the guns. No resistance to his tyranny.

I'm all for leaving my gun at home. As soon as criminals do the same.

Mentally disturbed people have easy access to guns in this country. Alway have, always will. Write all the laws you want to, that won't change.

I'm rather confused as to what he's getting at. Is he advocating leaving our guns in a cabinet, or turning them in?

Exactly. The Lafayette shooter was denied an application for CC. Criminals and crazies will find a way to get their hands on guns.

If he can guarantee that he could take and keep guns away from criminals and any other weapon so that I would never, ever have to worry about mine or my families safety, then then still could not have my guns.

I enjoy hunting and shooting.

Screw him.

It's amazing how the comments in this thread prove him right. America has an absurd and unhealthy obession with guns.

I agree. The problem is the gun culture in the inner cities, but we are in denial and blame it on the gun culture in rural areas, which isn't actually a problem.
