nobody's defending this guy who poached this lion. People are just pointing out the fact that banning all hunting of exotic animals is both a bad idea and a practical impossibility.

Well then the cubs will be dead soon too when a new dominant male moves in. This just keeps getting worse.

Thankfully, America has plenty of douchebags who need facebook photos, so in that regard, we should be able to keep combatting poachers for some time.

Everyone has a job.

The assholes fly to Africa to pay $$$$ and shoot lions and other exotic game.

The locals get some of the money, incentivizing them to oppose poachers

The rest of us get on Yelp or Twitter and talk shite about the assholes

You have to manage a population of wild animals. That's how it works. Maybe read a book about it sometime. It's interesting.

We've acknowledged that. No one is defending this particular hunt.

I was nearly neutral seeing both sides or at least trying before slamming this guy but nah it's either you agree 100% or you support this hunt

So drive the population down to absurdly low levels, realize oh shite, we done fricked up, then encourage people to kill more of them so we can have money to fix our error?

That's how population management works?

Hunters are not why Lions are going extinct. They're going extinct because of habitat loss. Is that the misunderstanding here?

I'm fairly knowledgeable when it comes to hunting in Africa. I've been once, my dad has been more times than I can count.

What yall want to know?

Is there really nothing more important than some dentist paying to hunt exotic game? No wonder this country is so fricked up.

To the people that it offends... How does this effect your life directly? Will it cause you to lose sleep? Are lions in Africa important to us in the US?

Sorry if this post asks relevant questions to bleeding hearts. I know it isn't in their nature to be able to answer direct questions.

A whole bunch of Americans on a message board pissed off that a lion got killed in Africa.

Amazon and Netflix will crash tonight when all these people try to watch the lion king at the same time.
