Seafood Platters in New Orleans

Saw this on social media from Frankie and Johnnies. Supposedly this was $24 and the poster of the picture was critical of the amount of food for that price.
This got me thinking! Although I have seen platters with more food I don't think that is a terrible price.

That looks pretty terrible, quantity aside.

Onion rings look burnt. Those shrimp look pre-breaded IQF for sure. Would not want.

I agree .. But it's Frankie and Johnnies

They're bell peppers, but I agree...

I'd eat the shrimp...and I'd take a bite of the rings just to make sure they were inedible. That fry cook and the kitchen expediter need to be talked to sternly.

The fact that those are bell pepper rings doesn't help...

Right? Who fries a bell pepper?

Frankie & Johnnie's is the type of place a Baton Rouge resident who visits Nola twice a year would recommend to other BR residents.

I agree it doesn't look very appealing, but from a quantity standpoint it's probably fine.
Most of the restaurants with "giant" seafood platters have this much seafood on top of a giant pile of french fries, in my experience.

Deanie's is my favorite platter

I still like Deanie's for a fried seafood platter. It's not the cheapest but 2 people can split the half platter and 4-5 can easily eat off the giant platter.

Brightsen's
Those old school fried platters are a culinary relic that probably belong in the dustbin of culinary history. And this is from somebody who is usually the biggest sucker for old school type offerings.

R&O's for me, but that's mainly nostalgia.

FWIW, from the Frankie and Johnny's Facebook page, someone posted this in response to the platter in the OP:
From Quarter View, apparently
