Yes, he was a great Wizard.
Voldemort may have feared Dumbledore, but Harry is the only one that defeated/dispatched him.

He actually got an Exceeds Expectations in Potions on his O.W.L.'s and commented "that he was good at potions when Snape wasn't breathing down his neck" or something similar. Even with great instructions, you still have to be good at potions to do as well as Harry did with Slughorn.
This. Harry wasn't bad at potions. He was terrible at dealing with Snape and the Slytherins.

Harry is a good auror. All his skills are for beating the dark arts.
So does that make him a good wizard? Yes. Does that make him a well-rounded wizard? No.
He is proficient in a good number of skills, but, again, all for one purpose.

That is my point too. He is tailor made to be an auror and is unmatched at it. No one else seems to have his perfect combination of elite skills for that very important job (except maybe Dumbledore, but he is basically a god in this series, only defeating himself then sacrificing himself). But Harry isn't going to discover 12 more uses of dragon blood or correct a potions textbook.

he was far and away the most experienced wizard to ever graduate hogwadts when it comes to practical application.
According to JKR he actually never went back to finish his last year at Hogwarts. Neither did Ron. Hermione was the only one who took the time to graduate.

Well rounded means nothing. Harry destroyed the biggest so adding threat in 1000 years. He had help. He had a lot of help. But he perceive red when all seemed lost.
Think of the great men throughout history. we remember them for their leadership over all things.

True. Harry and Ron were allowed to become Aurors anyway because Shacklebolt, the new Minister of Magic, decreed that anyone that fought in the last battle at Hogwarts for the good guys could try to be an auror. Of course, auror training is like Navy Seal training and few make it all the way through. Ron left fairly early to help his brother run the highly profitable joke shop. Of course, Harry went to become head of the auror department within 10 years.

Harry is a great wizard, but have always said it and I will stand by it, if I went to Hogwarts with Harry Potter I would hate him. He comes off as a total douchebag if you don't blindly look at him as the hero.

Where are you getting this from?

Pottermore. There is a ton of additional information Rowling has put on there. I've read all of it.

Has anyone ever realized that the reason Dumbledore dies is all because of Harry?Had Harry not been a little bitch in year one, he goes Slytherin and then becomes friends with Draco Malfoy who isn't going to kill the headmaster that Harry is tight with. That's all it would have taken. The only other Death Eaters who had kids at Hogwarts, if my memory is correct, is Crabbe and Goyle who also would have been Harry's bros. It's all Harry's fault for thinking about himself and not about what the consequences of going Gryffindor had.
Malfoy=GOAT.
Upvoted because it made me laugh.

Harry would have been buttfricked by Voldemort in Slytherin. Without Hermione to help, he's in serious trouble.

Harry doesn't make it past year one without Ron. He's the only reason Harry was able to make it to the philosopher's stone b/c of his wizarding chess skills.

Before he turned 18, he survived Voldemort's killing curse, stopped him from stealing the sorcerers stone, killed a basilisk, cast an advanced patronus, won the triwizard tournament, was able to fight off the Imperius Curse, dominated Quidditch, taught a group of teenagers how to fight, destroyed a bunch of horcruxes, survived another one of Voldemort's killing curses, became the owner of all three deathly hallows, and killed Voldemort.
Other than that he was okay, I guess.
In all seriousness, I definitely understand the point of this thread. I'm just bored at work.

Devils snare kills ron before he gets to chess board if not for Hermione

Sort of wish he died there, to be honest.

I mean it's a book. I can write a book about a wizard doing way more badass stuff. How many dragons or women did Harry slay? Was the chick he ended up with a total smoke? Did Harry actual ever overpower anyone himself?
Nah to all of those. My idea of a badass wizard is someone who takes the hot chick at his school down, kills a couple dragons and also just kills the main enemy because he grows a pair and used Avada Kedavra. I mean he gets help in literally every battle and never does anything on his own.
I love the Harry Potter books, I've read the series probably a total 4-5 times, but Harry is a badass for someone who is like 13-years-old. For someone who is so famous there had to have been someone at Hogwarts or in Europe for that matter in the wizarding world hotter than Ginny.

Am I the only one that wishes Mcgonagall was actually used more? She wasn't really written about as much as the other characters. What was written you could tell she was very powerful, but Rowling never seemed to getting to writing too much about her or getting her more involved in the plot(s).

He was below average at best. His character seems to embody the new definition society has for "heroes" these days, which were called victims in the past.
If not for those around him saving him at every turn, he would have died in the first book. But hey, he sure did master that expelliarmus spell.

Yeah, I know. I was just listing stuff out of boredom. I realize he didn't actually do it all alone.
