Boat launch etiquette

Why is it so hard to understand that when you're launching your boat at a busy slip. You're supposed to put your boat in the water, pull it over out of the way and get your trailer out of the way?
We put in at the public launch in Springfield Sunday and the morons were out in full force. People taking up both sides of the slip or taking forever to power load there shite or newbies that just didn't have a clue.
If it wouldn't have been 100 degrees, it would've been comical.

Well there's your problem right there.

These are probably the same people that pull their 2 year old kids on tubes down the diversion canal on Saturday of memorial day weekend too.

honestly you're the first person I've heard complain about a boat launch
usually guys come on here singing the praises of the launching process

Happens all the time in Leeville and Golden Meadow. get to the ramp, then load boat, then leave boat in slip with 4 people and no one wants to move it out the way.
my wife is more impatient than me, she backs me in anyway

I don't see problems up here until the non-fishers start showing up. Fortunately, they do not launch until late morning.

Hope you have good insurance.
Just joking. My wife is scared to back up my 1500 by itself, much less with a trailer attached.

I thought that new F150 with the trailer backup knob was supposed to solve this issue.

It bothers the shite out of me when people don't pull into a parking spot or staging area to load/unload all their junk. Although my biggest pet peeve is people who back their boat into the water and then tie it off rather than pull it out of the way. Anytime I see a bass boat at a saltwater ramp, I park and wait for them to finish whatever it is they have to do. They are the worst.
edit- Bass boats are the second worst. The worst are kayaks loading on the ramp. I get that you can't step off a bulkhead into your kayak but for the love of everything good and holy in this world, hurry up. I once waited 20 minutes to load my boat because a kayak on the ramp had to carry shite to his car one by one and then attach this stupid wheelie thing because he was too fat and out of shape to carry his tub toy 100ft.

At the Bayou Pigeon landing it's the opposite.
I'm tired of the dudes with the 25' bay boats who pull up to the ramp, then load ice chests, tackle boxes and a dozen rods into those cute rod holders. Of course I feel all better when they plow up and down canals trying to find some magical hot spot they read about in the Louisiana Sportsman.

i have untied someones boat at Rigolets marina and let the bitch float away while they blocked the launch and went in to get ice, live bait and go park their truck. Bitch just floated out into Goheagans canal.

Yep. I pull up to the line, hop out, unhook bow, grab transom saver, auto-reel ratchet straps, throw trasom saver to whoever is backing me in while I get in boat, then we pass up the line of people still packing or who are scared to pass people.
My shite is 99% ready the night before. May add ice, but at the gas station.

I can get past newbies if they are willing to learn. Everyone has been a newb at some point. Everyone else needs to get their shite in the water and get gone. It really isn't that hard.

I had to go swimming once. Learned a valuable lesson that day.

quote:as a newb i was like this. It isn't a learned thing. If you have to learn not to be an asshat at a launch then you don't need to be behind the wheel of a boat.
