Questions regarding BR & Death Valley

I'm strongly considering going to the UF vs. LSU game this year, and I was wondering if you guys could answer some questions for me.
How is the tailgating scene? I've heard it's pretty great, just wondering all of your opinions on it.
How hostile are you guys to opposing fans before/during/after the game? I've heard stories of piss balloons, and I want no part of that if it's true.
How is the atmosphere in Death Valley in person? Seems epic on TV, and it has gotten some rave reviews.
It'll be my first road game, so I'm pretty damn excited about the possibility of it. Looking forward to a good game either way.

As long as you don't get butthurt over tiger baiting, you'll be fine.
Everywhere is more welcoming than Gainesville

if you can endure a minute or so of "Tiger Bait!" then you'll be fine and most likely invited to a tailgate for some food and a beer.

it's legendary, and if both teams are undefeated going into the match-up and its a night game...you're in for a treat.

Just like any other place, it gets hectic.... Inside the stadium expect LOUD and I mean LOUD chants, noices, profanity. The tailgating seems to be like any other school. There are douchebags and young college kids taunting opposition, but we do generally welcome everyone. Expect an aggressive jokeful, but hospitable environment outside.

You'll be fine if you aren't like the typical Gator trash, no offense. LSU has the best tailgating in the country and the best football atmosphere on the planet.

Let's just say you'll be disappointed with every other road game you go after you come to BR

Go
Great, don't act like a total douche and someone will invite you over where you can have friendly trash talk
That's complete bullshite, unless you bring your grandmother because then it is certain that someone e will knock her down, spit on her, and call her a whore
When it is at its peak during a game it is amazing. Bama games come to mind and ole miss last year was electric. Some fans have gone soft and leave early, which i think is so stupid for something you only get to partake in 8 times a year, why cut it short?
Have fun, be a nice guy and you will be given free food and alcohol

Since about 2009, it gets epic for about one to two games a year. It's usually great for Florida (except 2013 when it was an afternoon game). It's always, since '08, very raucous for Bama. Then, A&M or Auburn usually brings in one every so often. Last year's Ole Miss game was better than average and so was the State game in the 2nd half.
If Florida could ever muster up another team like the '07 and '09 ones, you'd hear and see some of the best electricity in the world. '97 Florida was unreal electric.

It's not bad. As a pledge we had to wear red ties/blazers so I've been tigerbaited/heckled/etc a good bit. Welcome it and you'll be invited to tailgates.
It's the best atmosphere in collegiate football. If you end up coming, start a thread closer to the fall and I'm sure posters will invite you to their tailgates.

Thanks for the answers guys. I'm a pretty laid back dude, and I like to think of myself as not being a douche lol so it seems like I should be able to have a hell of a time.

I've never seen a piss balloon on campus. Too much effort to pull that off anyway. Much more productive things to do on game day. LSU fans regularly invites opposing fans to their tailgate. Yes there are people who will be rude and mostly drunk like at all other SEC schools. Ignore them and move on.

You would regret it more if you did not go.

You sound scared. We're not going to beat you up & feed your girl Jambayala.

Cops don't go out of their way to harass opposing fans on campus who are walking around with open beers like they do in Gainesville.

Was it GPD or UPD? GPD is usually pretty lax from what I've heard. UPD is a whole different story though. It's part of the reason our tailgating sucks compared to most SEC schools.

Whoever it is, they suck..
Our police (BRPD/LSUPD/LSP/Sheriff) are only there to direct traffic; not bother anyone unless they absolutely deserve it.

Be cool and friendly and you will probably get some good food to eat!

Yeah, they can be assholes. Our former president made it a point to the PD's to bust people drinking because of a lot of students passing out in the stands during day games. Hopefully the new guy won't put much emphasis on it so us and opposing fans can have a better time pre game.

LSU's solution is simple. Don't have day games; especially early in the season.
I'm sure EMS will be busy for the LSU/AU game in September this year.
