Game of Thrones Season 5 In the Books vs. In The Show, spoilers

Wyman Manderly
Jamie in Dorne vs. Riverlands
D&D's Master List
Stannis
Loras Tyrell
D&D are a disaster left to their own devices. Anyone find it ridiculous that the argument that it was a good season relies on one episode?

Nailed it. I'll watch the show, but it has clearly jumped the shark. I can't believe that GRRM had allowed them to frick up his story.

D&D miss the source material badly, I'm really hoping GRRM can pull a miracle and finish WoW before next spring.

Yeah something about it was just off and I could tell that without even having read the books. Just seemed different.

Now come on, there was-

Ohh.... yeah. Jon Snow's arc this season was an improvement on the books, as was accelerating Tyrion getting to Dany. But the rest of it I found sub-par, particularly Jaime's. The only good scene in that is Jaime being with Myrcella, and that's it. Would have much rather seen him go against the Blackfish and slap around some Freys for the season. Plus they don't set up Jaime's animosity against Cersei at all, which is ridiculous. Not to mention the Sand Snakes and Elara were infuriating. If you can only boil it down to one being hot and having good tits, you have a shite story.
EDIT: And Cersei's was great, but they stayed closest to the books on her, and who would have thought it was the best (maybe save Jon's).

Selmy dying actually opened the way for Tyrion to be Dany's hand

That may be the thing that pissed me off the most about the season. Not necessarily Selmy dying, but going down defending fricking Grey Worm? If he died, no one save Missandei would remember him 3 months after that, and certainly no Hodors. At least have him die defending Dany. I mean, shite, would it have been so bad if he was killed at the pits instead? Selmy would have still said they needed Tyrion.

Selmy was never Dany's hand in the books. I don't see where people get that.

Yeah, Selmy is there for protection and really PR. Selmy is not a tactician in the same way Tyrion is. Selmy would see Tyrion's use and recommend Dany use him.

Dorne was a disaster. That doesn't change the fact reading about Jaimie in the Riverlands wasn't really interesting at all. Also, the less Iron Born bullshite, the better.
Also, I'm not sure I understand why people are upset over Loras. People act like he's some ridiculous gay caricature in the show. The biggest difference is you actually see the characters, while the POV style of the books sort of hides all the private stuff. And let's be honest, GRMM pretty much just made up shite for him to do to get rid of him in the books.
The season did get off to a slow start. Again, Dorne was a disaster. The last episode, while still very good, was rushed. But let's not pretend this was some total disaster of a season that D&D completely pulled out of their asses. The show is pretty damn close to the book. Several of the story lines end in the exact same place as a Dance with Dragons, while some are a little behind and some are a little ahead.
I'm sorry if you were duped into believing the Iron Born and Lady Stoneheart were more important than they actually are. Keep looking down on the show though. That won't stop it from being extremely popular and critically acclaimed.

I would agree with that. I would much rather Grey Worm died, just to avoid the annoying, useless scenes with Missandei.

Pretty much everything significant they did was in the books (or most likely will be). Can we stop throwing this phrase around to describe things we simply don't like?

IMDB episode rankings for series
3 episodes in the top 10, 7 in the top 20. Apparently, some people thought it wasn't just one episode. Sorry you had such a poor experience watching this year.

IMDB is notorious for overrating recent episodes. Come back in 5 years when the series is done, and I'd bet Hardhome is the only one on the Top 10.

Hardhome was AHmazing! Top two for me.

So, pretty much like book readers being notorious for slamming any change to the story, and running down the show at every possible turn?

How about you listen to most of the Hodors as well. They thought this season was sub-par as well.

Better Call Saul is rated 20th best series of all time currently. Please don't use IMDB as a barometer.

I thought that about 80% of the season sucked. Those writers are just as clueless as GRRM.

If you think the Jamie in the Riverlands storyline was boring you should stick to The Hunger Games.
